Does anyone else wonder why such valuable plates are on such average cars? They could sell the plate and pay of the mortgage!
All plates are hard to sell at the moment, due to a combination of there being too many good plates for sale and the current economic situation. Also most people who want plates, already have what they want. In short, the market is flooded.
How can the market be flooded? There aren't new 2, 3, 4 digit etc number plates being issued. If what you say is true why isn't the value dropping?
In a way the market is flooded. The DVLA keeps pumping out new regs every 6 months, there are millions available at reasonable prices, a lot of them are crap granted but when there are loads of happy punters out there with their new plate that they bought for 400 quid they are perhaps less likely to aspire to own something rarer like a 1 + 2 style etc. Another important thing to consider when discussing falling prices is the distinction between asking prices and sale prices...

There are more than 400 being sold at the next DVLA Auction alone.

Personally I'm not really a fan of 2x2 numbers unless they are a bit interesting but I thought this one looked quite cool.

Any good?

Nice enough for me! Also a nice original 1962 plate rather than a DVLA auction job.

And there are loads more to go. Only a small minority of two letter plates were reversed in the late 50s/ early 60s, around half of all three letter combinations were not reversed, and only D, E, F, H, K, N, W and Z were issued as single letter reverse (some of these were also not issued all the way from 1-9999). So DVLA could sell ten times the number and not run out of combinations for years.

He normally lurks around Nottingham and IIRC he has jobs in Birmingham now too. Would you like this plate for your collection? hehe
