Penfolds said: Yeah, it's a Uk style Qatar plate. Owner looked about 20. Alas no, Qatar plates are all digits (I live in Doha currently). Curious as to where it is from, tho. (note: regarding bugatti on previous pages)

(note: regarding bugatti on previous pages) But when they come to London, they have to change to UK 'style' plates, Dubai are fine because you can read them, qatar ones are harder because of the numbers, so they usually end up as Q or QTR plates. I assume they cant have all number because there are a few cars which are already registered with the same plate, so by adding the Q/QTR it shows the country of origin?

A bobby outside Harrods last summer told me this is the case.

I see, you mean its a temporary UK issued plate? Makes sense. Local Qatar plates here are all digits bar, that i have seen, diplomatic and UN(!). Private vehicles on white plates, commercial including pick-ups on green (just changed to black last month or so), plus other colours for police, military, government etc.., each with their own number system. Currently private vehicles appear to be up to around 485000 - I will know soon when we take delivery of a new car! Private plates are low numbers or patterns (443443, 704 etc.). Plate design has just changed, removing the arabic numbers to a large 'english' numerical only style - as pointed out, the numbers were small alongside large arabic.

Over here the series 1 goes for around $40-$60k iirc, so about £20-£30k ish which would get you a 2007/8 with slightly high milage. The series 2 in the photo are about $80k +(£40/45 k), so I dont know what that would translate to in Pounds with Import costs etc, but probably still cheaper in the UK than in NZ (factoring in cost of living etc). They really ruined the look of the Series 2 though with the rear bumper, just looks too Max Powery. The front looks great if you were able to remove the DRLs
