I've just checked a Japanese carfinder website and there are 24 x March Cabrios for sale in Japan at the moment. In comparison, there are over 3,500 x March hatchbacks listed. The site also lists 3 x Mitsuoka Viewt Cabrios for sale at between GBP4,000-6,000.
In central Tokyo at least, you don't tend to find many older domestic models as they tend to get traded for new after the first or second shaken (comprehensive MOT at 3 years and then every 2 years thereafter).

Thanks for the insight Andy that's helped a lot! So it seems they're pretty rare in Japan itself too! Thought I'd put up a few photos that I took about 5 months ago, as you might like them.
Audi Quattro
Porsche 964 Carrera 2
Porsche 997 Turbo + Lamborghini Murcielago
Jaguar E-Type
BMW E30 /Alpina B3 2.7 (e30)
BMW 323i E21 / Alpina C1 2,3..no idea if it's genuine...and a bit of a cheat as it was taken at a BMW meet. I love the car, not so keen on the stretched tyres, but as the car is so good looking, it almost gets away with it!

And probably my best spot - a G55 AMG. It was genuine due to the side-exit exhausts Pretty sure these are very rare.
There are a ton of these around here (Los Angeles). One should know that there are two versions of the G55: supercharged (Kompressor) and non-supercharged. The Kompressor says so on the fender badge ("Kompressor" under the V8, I believe). Also, one thing that's fairly common around here is to do both a body refresh (newer LED lights, wide fender kit, etc.) with a fake side-exit exhaust. Only way to know for sure is to look under the hood and possibly to hear the burble.

Congratulations to Tigerkoi on "Supercars spotted, some rarities" reaching Volume 4! Here are the latest pics from Tokyo....

Well, the longevity of the thread, or more accurately people posting their finds, is down to the varied and enjoyable subject matter. So that requires a healthy and catholic range from lots of contributors.Andy
I do have a little giggle every time someone brings up the thread title, and the inferred obliqueness to it, though.
I'll side with Funbus's comments at the tail end of Vol III, however. I think the ambiguity in how a lot of entries seemed to re-routing eyes and traffic to other sites, and the possible motives behind that takes people away from why the thread has been enjoyed by seemingly quite a few, for seemingly a long time:
- it's not a professional pasttime. You walk down the street, see something interesting and want to share. then you carry on with your life
- the insight provided over the years in places is almost unsurpassed when recounting certain production details, stories or even legends about the cars
- there has been some astounding photography which obviously appeals to many
- the true variety, beyond the standard supercar fare, really highlights what's out there day to day, when we choose to walk around and open our eyes a bit
I genuinely loved posting a few years back, and hope some - not all - enjoyed the updates, idiosyncratic as I often made them! I think the best things in life are those not followed through with a religious zeal, but because you like them and hopefully other do too, and there's no agenda beyond that.
Andy, AndrewW-G, Trommel, Valkarth, everyone, keep 'em (the pictures, the words and the jokes) coming!
Ciao.

A few from Paris last week, I would have got a lot more but my girlfriend thought I was being a bit of a geek! Women eh?!
6.3 AMG, lost count of the amount of AMG's I saw and heard.

I could be wrong but isn't that a 5.5 supercharged V8 with the 6.3 N/A only being in the later face lift models 6.3 AMG, lost count of the amount of AMG's I saw and heard.
