Really nice. Just what the PH world needs right now with Lotus looking like they will be moving the Elise in a slightly larger / heavier direction.

Opportunities for superlight / more power are plentiful, along with options to add downforce.

Anyone else think this is what the Caterham 21 should have been?

Happy Friday

Panel fit on production cars will be spot on. The factory who supply the body molds unfortunately suffered a fire before Xmas so the fit and finish of the body work on the 2 pre production prototypes pictured recently are from splash molds while new molds were made.

This is now complete and production cars will be 'fit'.

How is the leg room? I presume there is a fair bit of headroom if it's meant to be a track day effort. While I think 175bhp is enough for now I'm curious as to how urgent the engine would feel, 6700rpm peak power is quite low nowadays.

Looks stunning... I'd happily own one of these (in Orange). The only problem I have with it, is it looks a lot more special than it'll sound. Would be the complete package with a lightweight V6 or V8 under the bonnet.

I don't know. There's something to be said for appearing to be the underdog by only having a 4 pot. Then steaming past something with a bigger engine. It's the British way.

This sweet G40R ride is boss ... FIVE seconds 0-60 and 30MPG is a modern benchmark, perfect... Next add a supercharger, or make it an option, along with ... uh ... ah quality air-conditioner is a must for the coupe.

The CAR LOOKS GREAT...! I wish nothing but wonderful success to men behind this undertaking. Hell I'll buy one... !

Same applies to my Elise - you want lightweight, you have to put up with the peasant engine. Goes with the territory.

It should have the longer reach pedal box in production form I would've thought to solve any issues.

Seeing that rear end for the first time is like taking off a supermodels clothes and finding out she's actually a man!

How about one of those Hayabusa based V8s? They are actually lighter than most 4 pots, and similar in size. But very expensive, though. Still, if they can charge a V8 version (400-500bhp, slightly wider front and rear tracks...) under 60k, it'll be much cheaper than SR8, and road legal.

thumbs up for saying this is what the Caterham 21 should have been. Should be a hoot. So long as the induction is done right and the pipes are tuned there is nothing wrong with 4-pot music.

I'm fortunate to look after a couple of Challenge spec G40's and can assure you the leg room is good. At 6ft 1 with long legs I sit a few notches forward.

Have to agree on the rear end, looks great from all the other angles, but the backside just doesn't flow like the rest of the design and is butt ugly! Top marks for everything else though.

+1
i gave this 9/10
the -1 was the back end, the shape is fine but the rear lights dont suit. The rest is perfect.
Still, the first car for a while ive thought i would buy new with hard earned. Might jigsaw out a removable roof panel too.
funnily enough i think the bubble micra's lights out wide would look great in there, save a bit of wiring too, but thats probably just me smile

I didn't want to comment because clearly this is proving to be a very popular car on here among fellow PHers, but I just don't get on with the looks. The photo with them both at the petrol station is probably the only image where I actually think they look half decent.
I do like what I've heard about Ginetta though and the latest model does look good. Shame it costs twice as much.
