Would love to see a comparison between this and the Zolfe GTC4: http://www.zolfe.com/
They look to be chasing a very similar target audience, using the same engines and with similar options.
But the Zolfe looks like a GTM Coupe. The Ginetta doesn't, Which is a bonusThey look to be chasing a very similar target audience, using the same engines and with similar options.

Not very inspiring looks, lacks imagination, hardly the type of car that sitting there would raise any feelings of desire or excitement to want to go out and drive it; or create any pride of ownership.
To be fair, it is the school holidays. This guy clearly has no friends.Ipelm said:

Compared to a Ferrari or mclaren, fair point. But it's an affordable 30k sports car that delivers so much more than anything else I can think of at that price (new, no throwing in second hand tvrs). Granted I think the power upgrade will be a very popular option and is needed. Can't see it rising by much more than 5k for some forced induction. I like a lot. I'm not wealthy enough to buy a new car but I will be watching 12-24 month residuals like a hawk. 2 year old car with the power upgrade for 25k? I'll be all over it like a bad rash.

I disagree. Given it's a driver- and driving-focused car, I'd say it raises the same feelings of desire or excitement to go and drive it as a Caterham/Elise/Exige/Elan I'm proud to own a Caterham, find it desirable and exciting to drive and imagine that the G40R would be similar. As you own a Elan I'm surprised you don't feel the same, this car fits into exactly the same category.

Very PH.
Almost like a TVR and an MX5 got together in a very loving and special relationship and had a bouncy little offspring. I would be worried if they were using another crate V8 and claiming thousands of units a year, but the price and production number sound very reasonable indeed. A good traditional front engined 4-cylinder RWD little lightweight machine with unfussy looks, I think it will sell itself.
Wow, perfect description. Wish I'd had that insight ;-)Almost like a TVR and an MX5 got together in a very loving and special relationship and had a bouncy little offspring. This is something I've always wanted, small, light, front engined, RWD, simple and relatively cheap. Reminds me of a modern day mk1 escort...just a great hoot to drive.
Sadly saving for a deposit on my first house means I won't be able to purchase one right now but hopefully I'll be able to pick up a reasonably priced second hand one in a couple of years.
Who else would be tempted to drop in a screaming mountune duratec in it just for laughs?? Sounds like a great idea to me

just 795kg
This is the important bit in my book. Weight plays a huge amount when it comes to handling and braking. It'll mean the car should feel naturally 'alive' and responsive and that it won't need brakes the size of dustbin lids and 100-pot calipers to stop the thing. In this age of bloated weight counteracted by huge power, this is a refreshing change for a road car.
For the last few years I have always made a point of heading to the area in the paddock at oulton park where a couple of these usually reside at the british GT weekend.
Although sadly too expensive for me, I think they are fantastic, and decent value for what you get which is essentially ginetta's expertise at producing a lightweight and useable sports car.
Having seen numerous ginetta races I have no doubt that one of these at a trackday would be a blast, and able to provide masses of fun, coupled with an ability to embarrass much more exotic machinery.
If you compare it to the likes of an Elise clubracer, it starts to look good value. Both would be great to own, but the ginetta gives you that bit more everyday/GT practicality coupled with personal tuneability and rarity.
I think ginetta should run a competition to run one for a year, on the proviso that it's taken to at least half a dozen trackdays and two euro jaunts.
Can I have one please?!

Similarly, I remember seeing a G50 in the compound at Silverstone a few years back and thinking what a gorgeous car it was. Lovely to see a small GB sports car manufacturer flying the flag and, subject to profitability, I see a rosey future. I always use to lust after a G33 when I was a kid and one was featured amongst the foreign supercars in Top Trumps!
