In white, with air-con please.
Why? Does it not come fitted with wind down windows?

I thought one of the BTCC commentators said of the ginetta racers that they had 300bhp (could just be making things up as he goes along) and i'm also sure those racers have lights fitted? Have I imagined a season of the ginetta cup or is this completely unrelated to the ginetta cup shown on itv4? I also recall said commentator saying they were specificly designed to have more power than grip so maybe that explains the unremarkable 0-60 time (same as the mounttune focus st260 and thats a big heavy wrong wheel drive jelly car) I bet alot of this cars appeal lays in the feel and the pace it can cover ground over out and out speed?

If you are talking about the Ginetta G40 Junior cars that supports the BTCC then they are detuned for the 14-17 year olds that drive them. Just checking the spec on Ginetta's website http://www.ginetta.com/cars_g40j (click on the .pdf at he bottom of the page) it appears they are restricted to 100bhp to meet MSA requirements.

Unless you were watching the G50's as they have 300bhp http://www.ginetta.com/cars_g50

Well i remember a ginger 16 year old won the race by a large margin. Do they run at the same time then? Im very confused by whoever the commentator was. Although looking at the G50 they do look similar enough. So which are the ones with the open top then? I remeber they didnt have headlights.

How is the leg room?
It should have the longer reach pedal box in production form I would've thought to solve any issues.
I'm fortunate to look after a couple of Challenge spec G40's and can assure you the leg room is good. At 6ft 1 with long legs I sit a few notches forward.
Thank you both.

Probably yes but I have found that air-con benefits even the MX-5 which has a little more fresh air than the G40! The Ginetta would be (for me) a well used second car and I'd hate to not use it because it got too uncomfortable in summer or annoyingly misted up in winter etc so I could easily live with the extra weight gained from air-con in exchange for improved comfort.

I'm pretty sure that they'll be doing LHD for export, possibly even more LHD than RHD!? I think they export a lot of the race cars currently, not sure how many of them are done in LHD.

Thank god for Ginetta, and the fact that there is still someone out there making proper cars.

Glad they have stuck to their ethos and historical references as well. I can recognise styling cues - and even the overall concept - from my G15. Will it be sold in Australia? because i'd be seriously tempted to upgrade...
Why not personal import it? I'd love one of these too (funds permitting) but without an air conditioner it's really not on the cards.

You could always have aircon retrofitted. There are a number of places that'll make up an aircon system for a car.

Love it. Personally I'd want the air-con and a some more power to make it a bit lairy. Certainly an option for the future though.

i like the concept very much and i think it will sell well..

only thing is im not convinced on the styling, some of the classic Ginettas were great to look at, and had amazing flowing lines, but i suppose that was the 60s

id love one of these, with a 2.3 duratec (which i know has been done many times), and price wise it wouldnt be too much more than what they are asking for the G40, but much more impractical

incase anyone isnt familiar, its a Dare Ginetta G12 (250BHP, 550kgs)

The open top ones are the Ginetta G20s - not made any more.

The G40 that are raced in the Ginetta Junior series (on ITV4 on the same programmes that has the BTCC) have 1800cc Zetec engines & are restricted and run on treaded tyres with (I think) an H pattern Ford Type 9/ Quaife H pattern gearbox. No lights (just stickers!)

The G40 that race in the Ginetta Challenge (on the same bill as the British GT & F3 series) also have 1800cc Zetec engines but are not restricted and have about 150 Bhp, slicks & a sequential gearbox.

The G50 has a 3 litre Ford V6 engine (from memory) & 300 Bhp & races seperately to the G40s in its own series on the BTCC bill (in the same races as its slighlty "bigger" brother, the G55)

The G40 road car has a 2 litre Ford/ Mazda Duratec engine & everything else required to be road legal.

Juniors get the sequential box as well now. I think they got it with the G40 along with the sticker but still treaded tyres. The car they had before the G40s had the H pattern gearbox.

Would have been nice to see him get in it, to compare to say an Elise.
Especially when you see the bare chassie

The car above is a junior with the pedal box moved nearer the driver, the G40R is not easy to get in and out of ( no car with a certified FIA roll cage is) but I agree it is very similar to getting in or out of the Lotus ( probably slightly easier but not much). We tested an Elise for a while and thought that would be an absolute minimum standard for access. Hope this helps
