That is bad news, I hope he is alright!

I imagine this is the same F1 that he crashed into the back of a Metro?

Atkinson, 56, was driving the £650,000 car

Really Daily Mirror? come on a minute of research could of uncovered the real price. Good Rowan is ok though!

Maybe that's what it's worth after he stacked it?

At least Rowan is ok thats the main thing. Sadly though I think that the McLaren is too far past it to be roadworthy now, having been in two accidents.

Actually, they are more than likely correct. It's about what RA would have paid for it.

They aren't saying what one is worth now.

Well, the car that he owned, and is most well known for owning as opposed to the current owner.

PH delivers yet again.

That doesn't look as bad as reported, though we cannot see the damage.

I think we can safely assume his broker left a message on his phone discussing his cover for £650,000...

...

Too early?

It seems to be happening on Twitter a fair bit

Hope Rowan is fine frown For a car that reportedly hit a tree and lamp post I expected worse, that Macca has not had the easiest life.

What's up with the paint finish on the car on the mirror website?

Tom's right - more Twitter than here. And I was one of them! It's going to happen to any story that comes out in a week when one man's fooled the world's media into covering a fake story about IE8... wink

Great that there's a picture - if this is the only one the news agencies will be all over it ASAP trying to make a quick buck.

Agreed - though that quote may well have just been pulled from the ether.

There's all kinds of nonsense claims/gun-jumping on Twitter:

"My mate was on the A605 and HE said that it went up in FLAMES!"
"I've heard from a reliable source that the car span through 5,000 degrees before coming to a stop"
"McLaren F1 appparently veered off the road and smashed into a lamp post at well over the speed limit"
"I hope Rowan Atkinson doesn't die!"

And the rest...

Well if Mclaren fixed that one in America which went up then they can fix Rowan's aswell. The One in America was far worse. The back was pretty much melted.

Few months and that F1 will be back on the road I would say.

The Police are saying the F1 didn't catch fire, according to the Sun. The reports of it's demise may well be exaggerated.

I bet it's spun a couple of times and done some superficial damage, a bit like Mr F's. Might look worse than it actually is, but I bet it still will cost mega money to repair.
