RE: PH Buying Guide: Noble M12
Discussion
Isn't the guy that wrote the guy that emailed the entire Noble forum for info on repairs/costs/upgrades. I know that I didn't send him anything in the end as all the information you need for one of these beautiful, fast, elegant, nostalgic (yes already in my eyes), soon to be classic, rip roaring, great sounding, blisteringly quick as standard, underpriced, gorgeous, head turning, Britsh!!ish, supercar beating beasts is already on the forum.
Anybody disagree - 'that owns one'!!!

I would have thought its much more a matter of packaging.
No matter how good it is, an inline 6 will be loooooong. the V6 is more compact, so I assume better suited to a mid engined car, never mind the fact it puts out morepower and torque.
Not too mention the fact the S54 is deployed longitudinal. You'd need it as wide as a wizards sleeve to fit that lot.No matter how good it is, an inline 6 will be loooooong. the V6 is more compact, so I assume better suited to a mid engined car, never mind the fact it puts out morepower and torque.
But the SMG gearbox would ne nice ;-)

Please explain why, and give a brief explanation of your experience regarding your comments concerning turbocharged engines. oh and as you are such an expert why do you call the engine a Mondeo V6? If I were you I would do your homework before you answer the last question.
wow someone is touchy!!!!!!See, it is cars like this that make me wish I didnt live in the U.S. at the very least so that I can catch a glimpse of this piece of rolling art. This mighty Noble had me at hello.
There is just, I dont know how to describe it, there is just something about the Noble that itches me the right way, in every right way that is!
I am a fan of British Exotica and have been since I first laid my eyes on a 1990 Esprit SE. And I believe from then on, and without coincidence, I have been drawn into anything exotic of British origin.
To me, there is no arguing that if you Brits know one thing and know it well, it is how to make the finest rolling art on the planet, art that somehow and inexplicably reaches into the depths of a mans soul and mesmerizes that man with what can only be described as I did above; ROLLING ART!
And like I mentioned above, it is of no coincidence, and I know this because it is only after the fact when I find myself drooling over a new european machine that it turns out to be of British Origin.
To me, the way you make these cars, they have their own persona, you can tell there country of origin. Sort of like american muscle. Lucky for me I have been fortunate to have experienced both and I can proudly say that both embody a SOUL, and I dont have to preach to the experienced enthusiast that most cars today lack a Soul. Sort of like the newer american muscle cars, well the retro ones that is. Whereas the Zo6, Viper, GT500 Mustang thankfully still retain one, I guess reincarnation is for real.
To me, the Noble is the same way, even though it is brand new, and again ill mention, in the times we live in newer cars exotic or not lack a Soul, but the Noble clearly has one.
I only wish I could drive one.

I would say the fact you can buy a brand new Rossion today makes you a lucky man! There is just, I dont know how to describe it, there is just something about the Noble that itches me the right way, in every right way that is!

st... haha why did you have to show that to me? That is absolutely STUNNING! But it looks like a more elegant Noble. Do you know what I mean when I say that, elegant? Meaning, it has less cuts in the body, it is more stream lined.I am at work right now, but tonight I will really dive into that site,
You know what I would love to see, I would love to see an all British supercar gathering with loads of Loti, Nobles, Jaguars, Rossions, TVR's etc etc that would be a dream come true. Get a picture of the best examples of the bunch all in a row, low shot of the front and backs.

Having had 4 TVRS, and 2 Nobles I can safely say that a TVR is nowhere near as reliable as a Noble, in fact the comparision is laughable.
Similar to my experiences. I too have been lucky enough to own 4 TVRs (Cerbera 4.5, Tuscan, Tuscan and Tuscan S) and two 04 plate GTO-3Rs. I've still got the GTO-3R now. The Nobles have been far more reliable than any of my TVRs had been.Edited by Lucozade on Friday 19th August 10:42
The Noble is simply a great drivers car that comes with the usual issues that all low volume cars come with, it goes with the territory.
Mine has been very reliable for the last 4 years and I've just spent £6500 putting some stuff right. It's now 8 years old. Cars that it can compete with cost that to service annually. So I'm chuffed with that.
Interior? basic is the word. Basic also means less weight which is what you want in what is basically a track car. Luggage? That goes in my C4, Landy or van. Why? Because I'm lucky enough to be able to have the Noble as a 'toy' which is why Noble didn't build an estate or van version!
Some of you people need to take a step back and look at your comments on this car. I don't remember anyone complaining that the Supermarine Spitfire had no luggage space or couldn't carry the load of a Boing 747! Two different planes for very different jobs.
It's about time some of you stood up for Britain for once and dropped the 'sheep' mentality. Next you'll be telling me you support Man United because they are the biggest team with the most money.

and as for using a bmw 3.2 M unit .....come on be sensible !! there are Nobles running in excess of 600bhp and 540lbft of torque how the hell are you going to get that sort of power out of the M unit ?
Turbo it.I wrote the article and find it strange there are complaints about me contacting Noble owners via the forum to collate information on buying and owning one of these cars into a buyers guide. If you don't want to respond, that's fine, but to then say the feature is a waste of time seems pointless because the info is already mentioned elsewhere misses the point. The idea of the feature is to give a potential Noble buyer the information to assess a car and buy a sound example. As well as several helpful PHers who own Nobles and provided first-hand experience and information, several specialists helped with information, including former Noble factory workers. As for the comments about writing from a position of experience, I have driven every Noble model, with the exception of the open-top version, over many miles and in all conditions on road and track.
As an owner I thought the article was a fair overview of the M12, although it doesn't really convey the driving experience.
I wouldn't worry too much about the comments, if you have had the chance to drive all the variants as much as you say then you have been very lucky
Anyone interested in buying one would be mad not to do their homework as I did before buying a handbuilt car like the M12.

yes thought mine was a bargin. then it was o iv broken even, now 10k later ok well if id bought a 25k bmw or audi it would only be worth 15k now... thats how im managing to justify it!I wouldn't worry too much about the comments, if you have had the chance to drive all the variants as much as you say then you have been very lucky

Hello mate! Thought I recognised it! Still out of my price range at £35k!
Hi matey, Yep, I had to double look when I first saw it, was a great car. You can get them cheaper than that with all the bits done, that one was late though on an 05. You still looking for something?
Give me a call when you get a min!

Yeah, I'll give you a call. We're thinking of inviting 2 guys from work over for a BBQ tomorrow night, so come over if you're around.Yep, I had to double look when I first saw it, was a great car. We put an offer in on a house but it was rejected, so I'm thinking of buying a sports car at the start of the winter, cheapish, and running it til the spring and seeing what the housing market is doing then.
A friend of my dads (who runs the Formula Ford racing car) has a small car dealership and he has a nice SL55 AMG in at the moment. Black, all the options, TV, sat nav, massage, heated and electric seats, parking sensors, glass roof etc. 50k miles, might consider that. Be cool to have a 500hp V8 under the bonnet of a nice convertible sports car! Your old Noble was immense, but I found a Ferrari 360 Spider with 30k on the clock for £35,000 this morning! Nice! That's over budget though. I'm looking at up to £20,000.
I need someone to go halves with!
