The thing on the roof , is erm the roof, there is a small lip at the front so it appears to be a sunroof panel.

I would love to have been at one of the high level Porsche management design meetings....

So what shall we make the new 911 looke like?
A cutting edge design, with links to the past? Nein Nein nein NEIN!! Everyone would expect that.
Zee American, British and Japanese are all doing that, even zee Germans are doing it.

At this point I cant help thinking they agreed to stick with the 997, a dissappear off on holiday for 6 years.

Might just be the recording but, even for a 911, it sounded terrible when pulling through the forecourt.

If you look closely at the beginning of the vid, you'll see the new taillights are ever-so-slightly thinner, ergo, it's the new 911. wink

Does the Porsche design department consist of 200 people? One to change the 911 slightly once in a while and 199 to design pointless stuff like trainers and cutlery?

I think the thing on the roof is a sunroof.

Although it may look like the 997, isnt the chassis supposed to be brand new and ready for platform sharing with others within VAG?

It is rather dull but I do have a soft spot for 911's

Looking forward to what the new turbo rims will look like - they are normally pretty tasty.

The ejector seat panel seems to have come ajar. You can just about make out the 'Ejector Seat is Offline' pinging message from within the cabin at 0:58.

Still looks a bit disguised, but alarmingly dull even allowing for that.

And what a HORRID sound, flat and depressing and soulless. I'm now going to watch THIS to cheer myself up.

Ahhhhh, that's better.

I think it still looks classy.

I think the new model was because all new cars from March 2011 have to have LED running lights. I think the roof bit may be a special sunroof.

hehe dont even need to state the obvious about it looking identical to the previous model!

hopefully 997 prices will take a tumble into affordability for the non-loaded next year.
Given the new one will be £10k more, like for like, than the 997......I don't think this is going to happen.

When a new 991 C2S is £90k, I suspect this will mean 997 prices stay pretty strong. They're already a bargain given £40k will pick you up a nice 2005/2006 from memory.

I hate these posts where people desperately hope something goes down in price - just work hard and earn more money so you can afford one, rather than wishing depreciation on others and their hard earned.
