RE: Lotus's Revamped Range Includes V6 For Exige
Discussion
I think the V6 Elise is the start of Lotus realising that to make all the grand plans come good they are going to need to do something to sell the existing cars. Expect an Evora with 500bhp, after all today's Elise has twice the power the Elise launched with, and perhaps the Europa coming back with a bigger engine.

unlikely with that engine (short of changing just about every moving part of it)Simon
US magazine Road & Track says of V6 car,
"According to our sources, many of the changes are due to the Exige moving to the same chassis that can be found under the Evora 2+2. There’s almost no chance of the 2-passenger Exige becoming anything less than a hardcore sports car, though the larger platform could provide a welcome boost to cabin comfort."

"The new Exige appears wider and bulkier, especially when viewed from behind. After taking in that large (carbon-fiber?) fixed wing, let your eyes move down to the mammoth, multi-level rear diffuser fitted to this test car. Rear downforce definitely appears to have been a prime consideration when Lotus penned this car. The entire rear looks wider than before, even the taillights have a cleaner and more integrated design. A true rear window has also been fitted, which should greatly improve rear visibility.
"The front end is dominated by air intakes, with a single hood vent replacing the split version found on the old Exige. Lotus has also jettisoned the old car’s roof-mounted air scoop.
"Lotus has never been known for plush interiors, but we expect to find improved plastics, better instrumentation and much less of a kit-car feel throughout.
"Don’t think this car is getting soft. The Exige will likely share the same normally-aspirated and supercharged versions of the 3.5-liter V-6 found in the Evora and Evora S. Based on the performance figures of the current Evora, the lighter Exige should have no problem zipping to 60 mph in 5.0 seconds or less. Double-wishbone suspension will keep the car planted to the road.
"Look for the Exige to debut next year, most likely during the 2012 Geneva Auto Show."
