I owned a supercharged import Mk1 MR2 probably 20yrs ago.
I didn't like it, it was too small, too slow and I couldn't play with the back.
I ended up with a Supercharged Mk1 MX5 and much prefer it.
What do you mean by that? I didn't like it, it was too small, too slow and I couldn't play with the back.

It's a mid engined car so is never going to be a drifter's dream. You can certainly get the arse out on tight corners though.
I prefer my SC MX5 because I can steer with the throttle, easily and safely on any T junction, bend or island.

Precisely what I said.

You can do that with an MR2 as well if you're a competent driver I prefer my SC MX5 because I can steer with the throttle, easily and safely on any T junction, bend or island.
I sure as hell haven't seen any, nor any for sale on Driftworks.

Remind me how many drifters use MR2s ?

Not sure how that's relevant to you being unable to play with the back end of an MR2 I sure as hell haven't seen any, nor any for sale on Driftworks.
Sure, it's easier in an FR car, but it's not impossible
Don't take my word for it...

Genuinely interested in the slander slung at this car.
I just don't like it. Never been a fan of any MR2 and the mk1 is the worst looking of them all. Looks like a door wedge. Then there's the fact someone has hacked at it and done a half arsed attempt at an engine swap. Not for me at all but each to their own and whatever tickles your boat etc.Genuinely interested in the slander slung at this car.

Thats me, drifting my MR2. I am also a driftworks member
I have seen 3 other MR2s currently attending drift days from DW and there was even one competing back on 05.
H2H
While im being a pic we ill throw this up as well to prove the pic wasnt right before a spin and it didnt try and kill me with its snappyness.
Learn to drive an MR2 and they are hugely rewarding I would love the SOW personally.

Which is easier to drift, turbo or NA?
You really need to get to know the car on a private road or track. I remember fishtailing while going over a manhole cover in the wet - totally out of the blue and I wasn't even putting my foot down. There's a fine line between knowing how the car moves when sideways and letting the car just go wherever it wants to.
This classic clip reminds me of what happens when the front loses traction and doesn't have any bearing on where the rest of the car's going;

It's no wonder why the £4k traction control is quite a sought after factory option.
