I hope to see a change in the Castle Lotus marketing now - inviting people to come and check out the new 'whips' on offer, and perhaps try your hand at some drive-by shootings in an Evora at the next open day?

WTF. I look forward to seeing Elises "rollin'" on 22" chrome "rimz" with spinners that add 50% to the weight of the car.

Not matter how old I am, I hope never to say 'it's all just noise to me'! Sorry, nowt to do with the story, I just wanted to say that.

I do think the Victoria Beckham/Evoque tie in is worse than this smile

I believe it all started to go a bit wrong when Russell Carr became "Head of Styling and Design". Styling? What? It's an engineering company.

Try this catchy little ditty, courtesy of Sir Swizzle of Beatzshire. Dreadful, just truly dreadful.

I'm going to pop outside and ghost ride the evora in the car park in respect to this move!
He does actually grace us with his ghost ridin' skillz in this video, albeit in a Murcielago, not a Lotus redcard

I only watched the second vid because I couldn't believe how terrible the first one that I saw was, and foolishly I thought it might have been a one off.

How wrong can you be.

TBH I don't actually think this is such an awful move...

Whilst this guy might not align with yours (or frankly my) taste in music, I get the sense that he has already been, and could continue to be an advocate for the lotus brand, in quite the perfect way for their new premium market segment. Artists do have the ability to galvanise people around an emergent brand, it could be one way of gaining some cultural cache in the way that Lotus used to with Bond appearances in films etc.

It might fail, or it might work - such is the risk when dealing with something as fickle as a luxury brand.

See what Pharrell did for A Bathing Ape

You know, working at Lotus is very much like making love to a beautiful woman. You've got to caress the bodywork. Breathe softly and gently and give every inch of it your loving attention. Just make sure you've got a nice wet sponge and a big fat pension stacked up for when it all goes terribly, terribly wrong......

Are Lotus having some kind of corporate-scale nervous breakdown? Are journalists going to one day visit the factory to find the management team crouched in foetal positions muttering "it's all about the aliens"?
