Why don’t they sell this car in the UK – was a fantastic drive.

Just back from the states and the guy at Avis offered me a BMW upgrade – I laughed and said “don’t you have anything American” and he offered a Mustang.

Was shocked it wasn’t the teenage girl/hire car v6 version but the five-point-oh.

Interior was really nice – Leather with Alfa style quilting on the doors , not the soft plastics of an Audi but nice enough. Ambient lighting really lifted it and shaker stereo rocked. But the 5.0 was the star of the motor 414bhp I read on my return and felt like it was the rumoured 4.5sec to 60.

Did 21mpg so about 25 uk mpg which is very good for a 400bhp engine on sluggish USA petrol with the air con on and an auto box.

Found a roundabout in Coral Gables Miami and gave it some stick and it handled really well – not what I was expecting with the live rear end. Felt the weight when transferring from lock to lock but tidy for its size.

Been nosing at prices £33k with SVA work done – tempting biggrin Is there a more popular UK forum or do people hang around on US forums ??

Anyone running the 5.0 on LPG ?

Yes it a shame that a lot of people bag on American car without ever having tried them there's some fun stuff over here and good roads as well, It's like they get tall their american car knowledge from clarkson

I'm biased toward the Mustang (I've got an 'o8 GT, the dark green one) and love it, however...

I've gotta wonder how well it would take to UK roads, I mean, this thing is BIG for a GT car and I have to figure it would be a PITA keeping it between the privet hedges on what you guys call "B roads."

Big? Maybe once but Euro cars have been to MacDonalds for quite afew years now and are quite often bigger. My Mondeo still feels huge after getting out of the Mustang and I punt the Mustang round many a narrow B road without any problem at all.

I think it's largely about perspective.

There are many in the UK who think a Vauxhall Astra or VW Golf is a big car, this is because they have been brainwashed into thinking hatches are the only transport and anything with more than a 1.6 litre engine is bad.

But in fairness a Mustang is no bigger than a Jaguar XJS, XK8 or a BMW 8 Series or new 6 Series. CL Mercs, even CLK's are of similar overall size.

All of the above are accepted on UK roads and driven on B roads without issue.

A Mustang is no different in this respect. smile
