Oh, and the Daily Mail originally had button's car confused with an F1, calling it a £500k car. They have since corrected their error as the headline now calls it a £170k car smile

I understand now. Thanking you.

The options list for this and the 458 are quite incredible aren't they. yikes

Out of interest, were there any options (paint excepted) for a McLaren F1? Maybe a question for the "Flemke...." thread?

edited: caliper paint £850.00. hehe Cheeky blighters...

An enjoyable read, thank-you.

When I first saw those doors I too thought that they could be trouble in certain circumstances. Nice problem to have though.

My local car club is getting one of the first in Switzerland any day now and I 'could get' up to 6 days with unlimited kilometers for the equivlent of GBP1,200 per day (assuming Carbon membership has been acquired). I bet it'll be booked out solidly though...

Woahwoahwoahwoah. Woah. 280bhp per tonne?! Come one, I've seen off a Nissan GT-R* in my Clio 182 - power isn't everything. Can enthusiasts (people sad enough to be members of car forums) be given a pass in regardless of metal?

  • Clearly terribly driven - it was doing that horrible thing when it looks like it's being driven fast but is actually going really slowly. Shudder.

ho hum! I guess this means you always have to carry a tape measure with you. Measure the width the door needs when opening prior to activating the door sensor so you know it won't hit the car parked next to it.rolleyes

I've seen a couple smile A fresh-from-factory-with-the-protective-bits-on near the Woking HQ, and slap me silly, in the town where I live in mid-Essex!
It was on top of me before I realised, and I'm quite ashamed to say that, as it was dusk, I mis-took it for a Ferrari F430-something, so was actually ignoring it getmecoat
Got to say though, it's quite something up close. I'm sure the driver of said machine - in black, not my first choice - wasn't too put off by my OMG-face as we passed each other!
Yes. Indeedio.

Great write up Mr Rosamond. Good to hear the 12C is as good as 'they' say. All cars have foibles, some mater less than others.

I'm sorry but it just doesn't do it for me.

I saw it at the Autosport show and visually its pretty but just lacks something and needs a little aggressive touch for my liking.

A supercar should stand the hairs up on the back of your neck, It should scare you and excite you at the same time.
From just about every report I've read about this car it gets criticised for being too clinical... I don't want a warp factor focus but need the feeling of the road and the mechanics through the car.

I don't have that sort of money to spend on a car but It wouldn't be my choice....Big shame As it's British though and I hope it does very well.

Just My Opinion.
ive you hada chance to drive or get a passenger ride in one you would change your mind best of british mate!!

The Fifth Gear test solidified my opinion on this car, I'd rather have the 458.

I complain about living in England..a lot...the roads.. the public transport...the general ar$e the local authorities and government make of everything....then you see this piece of exceptional understated brilliance and you think "where did it go wrong? how did the wrong clowns get in charge?"
British manufacturing and engineering gone to sh!t this sadly highlights the lost potential.
I'm not British for starters and it just baffles me why the English motoring press haven't got behind this car.
Not trying to be profound, just genuinely bemused by it.
