There's a lesson here:

Always take a photograph of the odometer before your car goes into a garage.

Shocking behaviour from a main dealer, but frankly I'm not surprised.

Hope your friend gets the result she's after OP.

Me too. A very measured response from your friend - no wonder she is in a position to buy one new at 25 if this is how she conducts business. Fair play to her, I'd have gone in blazing.
same here mad

I'd be pretty upset if my car was treated like this.
Extended test drives are sometimes necessary - but taking the kids out and getting the inside dirty is not on.

HOWEVER - the letter your friend has sent comes across as a whining woman. If it's obvious to her that her car has been made dirty she needs to ask for it to be fully valeted. No more, no less. Then either contact Audi UK informing them of what the dealer has done or just never use that dealer again.

There's no point asking "what's your policy on this, that or the other". They made her car dirty - they should clean it.

I think she is being pretty savvy and it would be my approach, see what offer they come back with. Then go in for the kill!

Wow.. this is pretty bad.

I personally would contact Audi UK, its not just the condition it comes back in that is unacceptable as far as I'm concerned, as others have pointed out this isn't that far from TWOC.

If it was simply a starting problem I'd like to see how they justify an 'extended test drive'?

Also please advise your friend that any valet should not, at any point in the cars ownership, be conducted by the idiots that work in most dealerships. They had to rectify the paint on my car twice after their sponge monkeys had scratched my paint. I would look to get an outside company to complete the work at the dealers expense.

Yes, very rare.

You've heard of it happening before, how many issue free services have you not heard about?

In 8-9 years in the trade I've never known anyone take one out for a jolly without the customer's consent.
Really, Mark?

On traffic cops the other night a Mechanic was stopped doing 112 in a customers TT 3.2.

Don't think I'd be too happy if my car had been used in that fashion.

A very long time ago I gave my 993 C2 into a large OPC based in West London for a service. When I picked it up I found a receipt in the door pocket from M&S for a load of sandwiches etc. Wasn't too bothered about it to be honest although it was a bit cheeky to do the lunch run in a customer car!

Maybe I should have worded it differently, I've had no direct experience of any of my colleagues even considering it, of course I've seen news reports but it is far from widespread.
