Forgot about this, how many actually swap their cats back in and out every year ?

I have done loads of exhaust changes and mods but it is my least favourite thing on a car, exhaust bolts, in my experience tighten up fine but never, ever come off intact, I suppose if its a year there is a chance they may be fine but it sounds like a pain, or is it not that bad ?

Depends on the car but yes its often a pain , some may be a 5 min job and others may take a morning , plus you have the hassle of gaskets and potentially having to swap sensors over etc. Thats why many find a "friendly" mot tester

I have changed boxes / CATs regularly for customers and if you use decent fixings and copperslip it is a 10 minute job.

However for my own cars I have sensible testers - they know I would swap them out so it seems pointless insisting they are fitted for 40 mins each year.
