Frontera up Snowdon
Discussion
Another proponent for Frontera's here.
Mine was very capable, as tough as old boots and with the exception of one electrical fault and an inlet manifold gasket needing replaced it never let me down in three years. It handled towing duties as though there was nothing on the back of it too which can be a bit alarming when you forget you're towing a car transporter and look in the rear view mirror!!

Pah! Anyone who has been up Snowdon will know that the Pig Track would be a doddle for any half decent 4x4. I reckon, had it not been for the Bilstein suspension on my RS6 i could have got that up there on a good day. I'd love to have seen it abandoned on Crib Goch though, thats something worth thinking about. Actually, theres an idea.............

Why the outcry? I don't understand (and this is from an 'idiot' standpoint, not argumentative) why it would be an offence? Surely it's just the same as driving accross common-ground, but this one has a mountain in it?
No idea why there seems to be a kerfuffle about the whole thing. ChiChoAndy said:

Why would a Vauxhall struggle to get up there, over anything else?
Because they are crap Nowt worse than blanket statements, and I see neither of you have actually owned one...

Owned five of them ( 2 x 2.4, 1 x 2.0, 2 x 3.2 ) and fully concur as to their reliability and capabilities - no problems in snow/mud etc. even when loaded full of diving gear, fine towing a RIB or my trackday car
One wonders how you got through 5 of them then... Altrezia said:

Judging by the video, the only people complaining were the stereotypical sour-faced ramblers. Everyone else just walked around it as if it was natural that a car would be parked right next to a train track. I did like how their whinging about how seeing a car has ruined their day had to stop to let a train rumble past.EDLT said:

But if there's a train, take the train.
I presume that none of them went up there whilst the new cafe was being built. The amount of plant up there then must have really upset the red sock brigade!
Like it has been said a fairly competant driver shouldn't have too much trouble getting up there. I imagine that driving on the railway would be the offence, not too sure regarding the Llanberis path as it is a right of way although if moutain bikers agree to a curfew for certain months then it is only fair that those in a 4x4 do!
Plus i'd like to see someone descend Snowdon on a MTB in 7 mins!!! That is roughly a 42 mph average by my calculation

Agreed Angry Sheep (suitable name for this thread)!
I dragged the missus up Snowdon last September, she hated every minuite of it and stated that there was no way she was walking back down. We had a brew and she toddled off to see how much the train would cost - we ended walking back down!

Last thing it needs is people getting idea's to do this.
Plenty of people have had the idea to do this, myself included. I wouldn't want to do it in the dead of night, however, just because it would rather defeat the object of being able to see the view!Out of interest, what would the offence be for the chap who did this?

Might be a right of way, but it's not a vehicular right of way (RUPP or BOAT).Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
