Out of interest, I wonder why they chose 'Four Star Cars'? The message it sends to me is 'not quite as good as it could be, but a bit cheaper'.
I hope that was a funny and not that you didn't realise it pertained to Four Star leaded fuel, which alludes to older vehicles and may just be why one of the proprietor's PH username is "Leaded". Zwoelf said:

Did any have a proper gearbox or were all the owners disabled?
Clutch pedal in a flagship luxury saloon? Are you insane? I suppose you'd think Rolls Royce Phantom would be improved by being manual? I think the last manual 7 Series was an E32 730i/735i in around 1991 - on the poverty model. You could order a ALPINA B12 with a manual gearbox a couple of years later, indeed that was the only gearbox option available for that model. It also had a 416bhp 5.7 litre engine and two doors.

6.7L of v16 could have potentially rivalled the 6.3L/6.9L mercs.

The V16 was linked to a manual apparently.

It was. It was also a one off project car and had to use that gearbox as there was no autobox available to BMW at the time that could take the torque reliably, whereas the box destined for the 850CSi could - the world's first six speed manual gearbox fitted to a V12 road car BTW. 6.7L of v16 could have potentially rivalled the 6.3L/6.9L mercs.
That and the V16 had a bootful of radiators and hideous, huge NACA ducts on the rear quarter panels to feed them.
Also, the standard 5.0 M70 V12 had more power (admittedly less torque though) than the 6.9l Merc anyway, with a higher top speed to boot, being the first BMW that was fitted with a 155mph limiter and also the first V12 luxury road car when the 560SEL still used a V8 and the S600 didn't come along for another few years.

Do you have a source for any piccies of the V16 7? intriguing stuff.
Comes up in Google under "E32 V16" or "BMW Project Goldfish". Most pics are scans of the same BMW Car magazine article a couple of years back.http://www.bmwclubmalaysia.com/forums/showthread.p...
Note the vented rear panel that usually houses the number plate recess - now ventilated to provide an outlet for the heat from the boot mounted radiators and the number plate relocated to below the bumper line.
I'd love to know what official BMW colour that car is as I'd love an E32 in it.

If you think the B12 above looks expensive for what it is, then take a look at this one: http://pistonheads.com/sales/2952407.htm
£25k (and no I haven't missed out the decimal point). Nice towbar.
I prefer the orange car squeezed in behind it £25k (and no I haven't missed out the decimal point). Nice towbar.
TX.
