I have no Idea LK that's how I got it so I assume someone used it on some other project ID and V5's are on ebay from time to time for a few hundred quid.
I've seen rotten shells with the V5 quite cheep and the vendor stating take shell or leave it!
I am not looking for anything like a grand (been offered just short of £400 so far but 5-600 would buy it, mgtart said ID would cost a bit over £100
Cheers

Does the engine have it's number? Without one even that can't be used.
...and I can trace the identity from the engine number to find what the original plate was and report it as a ringer. cop

eBay reply part II said:
New ID new engine number, if you want one with an ID look at 301680684069 a proper early car with early type gearbox and a few upgrades but needing improvement
The other car he's listing. Do I break it to him it's a late MkII with a MkIII grille and not an early model at all? wink

TTT 443H checks out and is registered as green so the identity crisis car could have been bought as he said.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1964-RILEY-VICENT-specia...

a nice car....Vincent MPH (Riley Replica).....

but why the V5c says "Riley"?

its a V5c from a Riley, used for giving this Replica a more authentic touch, i guess?

This is curious...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221818903058?_trksid=p20...

Bravo HLX in broom yellow. I was very interested in this even though it has been misnamed as the Bravo GT (those were never sold in the UK).

Checks out on the DVLA website (and copyright goes to them for the screen grab) even though it says 1800cc and not 1747cc. Lazy dealership maybe? I'll ask the Meerkats what they think...

...it's a 1747cc Marea ELX, four door, manual.

scratchchin

Do I buy it and drive to Shorpe Police station?

Been on before several times never going to sell. It would seem the interested buyers have realised the nonsense this car actually represents. Only connection is the identity. Best avoided. These cars are getting weeded out slowly. Not unlike the heavily modified cars offered for sale not yet registered. Thankfully more enthusiasts are aware of these offers.

Here's a good one...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MGB-GT-ROLLING-SHELL-197...

...and here's why...

...wrong tailgate, poorly welded boat tails (under the), wrong tail lights and the "GT" badge on the pillar wasn't introduced until 1974

'Do not use PayPal' may be a bigger misdemeanour in the eyes of eBay, though!

If so many of these ads are as bad/fraudulent as they appear, why aren't the police onto them pronto ? They have the fake car, at the owners address. What more do they need ? Of course not all of these ads are attempts to defraud, as many sellers themselves might have been duped originally, but that's for the law to establish I'd have thought.
