Ringing kits for sale on ebay...No not on our watch!
Discussion
The criticism isn't for doing it. The criticism is for the silly faux-law, and many of the examples that you have pursued with such misplaced enthusiasm, and too little real understanding in many cases.
No one will criticise you for finding/reporting/posting a Sierra Cosworth identity or any other righteous find.

That cosworth wont be rung, it will be stripped and sold as parts via ebay, gumtree, car shows etc, the parts will be easily sold to unsuspecting buyers who are restoring their own examples these days, decent 3dr parts are like rocking horse poop.
Sadly I'm inclined to agree. Especially in Moonstone Blue. Genuine Ford fans know to check their sources so chances are this one has been stolen to order for parts or there was a ringing kit ready for it.50/50 as it would sell for £30,000+ on the open market to an unsuspecting buyer.
£5,000-£10,000 for a "Barn Find" to sell for parts and use the ringing kit from. Car stolen to order £5,000-£10,000 sell for £30,000 or more.
I know there were only fifty two Moonstone RS500's made but not sure how many of the five thousand or so Sierra Cosworths were that colour.
Time to buy Trackers for my fleet I think.
Ye Gods, this insanity gets boring. Here's a photo of my Mercedes which got rather bent. If you come across it please report it since the insurers reshelled it. It is therefore of course illegal, a clone, a false identity. Except that someone did clone it and for a while there were two of them running around with me getting all the parking fines from London. So go to work on that one for a while. It might keep you off Ebay. Oh, and the reshelling was in 1983 by the way and I sold the car to a main Mercedes agent.

Perfectly within the rules. A rebuild with a NEW shell or chassis can retain the identity as long as enough of the old parts are used (and it doesn't need that many). https://www.gov.uk/vehicle-registration/radically-...Liquid Knight said:
Elite Registrations only value the plate at £75
If the plate was worth £300 I would have bought it, retained the plate and sent the log book off as scrapped.
Retained the plate how?If the plate was worth £300 I would have bought it, retained the plate and sent the log book off as scrapped.
Honestly: do you have any idea what you are talking about? Any idea at all, about any of it?

Your critique may not be discrete but you do have a point. As the number plate isn't on a whole car with an M.O.T or M.O.T exemption notification the plate can not be retained as easily.
