Because it was built in 2005 but used enough of the Lotus Cortina donor to keep the registration perhaps.

There have been a few "Barn Finds" that have been re-registered using old buff log books but you need to get someone from an owners club to verify the vehicle is what it is in writing to the DVLA. There was an unscrupulous company offering this as a service by post until a few stolen cars were discovered (one at a classic show) and they were shut down.
