Reported this...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Volvo-Amazon-123GT-1967-...

(for those not in the know, there are more Amazon 123GT examples being 'created' each year. Blatant fraud IMO).

Good find and for the price the seller knows exactly what he/she/it is trying to pull off.

Forwarded to NAVCIS and more important the RS Owners Club.

Excellent suggestion. Particularly telling the marque club about this! Best way to scupper it I think?

Not my find, I found it on another forum but was concerned someone would end up carless one day

i´ll find it very strange, that posts from a person reporting an incorrectly registered car have been removed.

sure, the owner of the car might not be happy seeing his car reported in a negative way. but if the car-owner (seller) knows all the "illegal" facts, but is still trying to sell the car like there is nothing wrong with. so, who is the "bad" guy? the seller or the person reporting the illegal things?

i´m quite happy that the car was also reported by somebody else in another forum...so its definately reported on the web...and the web mostly doesnt forget anything.

Check you email you should get an explanation as to why your post has been removed.

My post was removed because it violates their naming and shaming policy and had threats of violence.

Hypothetically speaking the only violent thing that could possibly happen when any kit car builder uses a ringing kit is the vehicle crashing due to something that would have been picked up by the IVA; but it was bypassed.

I know the IVA system can be expensive and getting the right details back from the DVLA can be a faff but if you don't budget time, money and effort for such things from the start then you really shouldn't start.

This is why listings where the IVA has been bypassed with a ringing kit need to be highlighted, reported and removed for the sake of public safety.

Ringing kits to make a car Tax exempt, worth more money, hiding insurance history or even a stolen vehicle is one thing but using a ringing kit to bypass the IVA has the potential to be as serious as Manslaughter.

If a weld gives way at the speed limit or plus miles per hour on the road or track it could be fatal.

Thank you to the Pistonheads moderators for keeping us in check and I hope you guys appreciate where we are coming from and the fact I kept this reply anonymous and hypothetical so no names have been shamed.

All the best LK

From now on guys if we keep things simple.

Post links that need to be reported.

Details about the vehicle to be passed on to https://navcis.police.uk/ only.

Keep any questions hypothetical.

If Pistonheads have to close this thread then the criminals have won.

I've found a strange one, Gumtree advert.

Citroen Xsara Picasso, 2002 - advert says It has Tax and MOT.

DVLA show up no records for a car on that reg number and free car check shows very little information also.. Strange. Ringer maybe ?

AD seems to of disappeared. Not sure I can put the reg number in this post.

I will follow yor suggestions Liquid Knight?

On the comments by cpservces it seems highly likely this is what it seems and I would avoid such ads.

On a personal note I happened to be meandering about the west midlands this week and I called in on several kit car garages I happen to know. In that one trip I witnessed three separate kit cars all of which were running on the details of another car and assuming the identity. No question these were not the cars whose registrations were actually being used.

I have followed your advice and let the appropriate authoriities know.

This is getting to be a really serious concern for all kit car enthusiasts.

In fairness to Gumtree they are pretty quick to act but that's the numbers game. They have fewer listing and more likely fewer complaints than eBay have to deal with.

It's always a good idea to at least do a DVLA check...

https://www.gov.uk/get-vehicle-information-from-dv...

https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/

...as most people won't bother to pay for an HPI check on a cheap run about.

Hi,

Your reply to the topic 'Ringing kits for sale on ebay...No not on our watch!' has been removed for the following reason:

Hi GinG15,

I'm afraid we're having to remove all of the comments relating to the car in question. It is against our name and shame rules and we can't allow them to stay. Please can I request that you no longer post about said car, as it will just get removed.

Thank you

Regards,
PistonHeads

so the dealer, doing illegal things has won the battle!!! bravo PH!!!

i can only say: i am very glad, that this car in question has also being reported by other persons in other forums, where PH has no access to remove the posts.

so the dealer, doing illegal things has finally lost the battle.

anyway..if i would follow liquid´s idea only posting the link without comments would that be ok for PH´s moderators? see above wording "please can I request that you no longer post about said car, as it will just get removed."

if i post the link only. does it get removed or not?
