[quote=GinG15]Hi,

Your reply to the topic 'Ringing kits for sale on ebay...No not on our watch!' has been removed for the following reason:

Hi GinG15,

I'm afraid we're having to remove all of the comments relating to the car in question. It is against our name and shame rules and we can't allow them to stay. Please can I request that you no longer post about said car, as it will just get removed.

Thank you

Regards,
PistonHeads

so the dealer, doing illegal things has won the battle!!! bravo PH!!!

i can only say: i am very glad, that this car in question has also being reported by other persons in other forums, where PH has no access to remove the posts.

so the dealer, doing illegal things has finally lost the battle.

anyway..if i would follow liquid´s idea only posting the link without comments would that be ok for PH´s moderators? see above wording "please can I request that you no longer post about said car, as it will just get removed."

if i post the link only. does it get removed or not?

I would hope not. Being a moderator on a forum must be a thankless task. Wait and see I think?

I will follow yor suggestions Liquid Knight?

On the comments by cpservces it seems highly likely this is what it seems and I would avoid such ads.

On a personal note I happened to be meandering about the west midlands this week and I called in on several kit car garages I happen to know. In that one trip I witnessed three separate kit cars all of which were running on the details of another car and assuming the identity. No question these were not the cars whose registrations were actually being used.

I have followed your advice and let the appropriate authoriities know.

This is getting to be a really serious concern for all kit car enthusiasts.
I'm not sure if you're serious, or just taking the piss.

If a weld gives way at the speed limit or plus miles per hour on the road or track it could be fatal.
This happened to a front wishbone on a friend's 2002 Vectra. Maybe we should get every car on the road into a VOSA station NOW and minutely check the car from top to bottom. Every year would be good.

Hang on..............

I think you'll find that happened to many vectras of that period, i've certainly repaired 4 with vairying degrees of damage resulting from a colapsed wishbone fitted at the factory, now if being a factory part doesn't mean an item is safe why do we all assume that a homebuilt item is not safe ?

It's a pity we can't name and shame these scumbags. They know exactly what they are selling, what it is most likely to be used for and they have built a business around the misery and suffering of others.

Overly harsh perhaps but my friends daughter had her Mini stolen yesterday and it's either parts or has a ringing kit applied by now.

I've found a strange one, Gumtree advert.

Citroen Xsara Picasso, 2002 - advert says It has Tax and MOT.

DVLA show up no records for a car on that reg number and free car check shows very little information also.. Strange. Ringer maybe ?

AD seems to of disappeared. Not sure I can put the reg number in this post.
Might have been on a private plate and has now been returned to its original number prior to sale. I raised a thread about this a while back when a friend was looking to buy a vehicle which appeared not to exist, but it turned out that was the (completely legit) explanation.

Purely out of interest, and obviously unconnected with any cars on this thread, did the Triumph Dolomite Sprint engine have a capacity of 1493cc? scratchchin Just wondering whistle

Indeed. An unregistered car in a present form. Pity is that it's actually quite a well presented car. However it will require IVA and that could easily make registration totally uneconomic. I am genuinely surprised anyone would bother putting thus much work into a car which cannot be legally used OTR without major costs in getting the car registered if in fact that proves possible.

It always makes me wonder...

"If they can't be arsed to do the paperwork and make the car legit' what other corners have been cut?"

...and walk away.

The same with all those undeclared engine swaps on my other thread. Golf GTI with a VR6 conversion "Thousands spent" but too tight to buy a stamp? scratchchin

Walk away.

Sorry I'm just too cynical these days. hehe

When you say "It" do you mean the car that I definitely wasn't referring to and which has disappeared from this thread........again?

Purely hypothetically, it would be possible for a kitcar with a 2 litre engine to still be registered with the DVLA as a 1493cc Toledo, for example.

A very valid point has been raised and I would like to address it on the thread.

Some of these Ringing Kit, vehicle identities, new V5C log book and such other listings are unlawful but the sellers aren't always aware they are breaking the law or the consequences of their actions.

We all know...

"Ignorance is no defense" judge

...but this is motoring forum not a court and we do not have the right say people are intentionally breaking any law.

When you see an expensive piece of paper and a VIN plate it's obvious and in those instances I forward the details to...

https://navcis.police.uk/

...but some people simply see these listings, follow suit but do not know. They should not in all fairness be tarred with the same brush. It's a bit like following someone down the road making sure you're a safe breaking distance away and not realising they are speeding until you check yourself.
