Forwarded to Hertfordshire Police. If you feel strongly about these log books etc (i.e. "Ringing Kits") for sale (and I firmly believe you should!) then please make your own reports to eBay (and the police if possible).
It is easy:
I hope it's his M3 that gets nicked.

I can't understand why someone would ring a BMW M3 with a ID that's done 120,000 miles and is CAT D registered. I think he'd struggle to give it away let alone ask £1500 for it. Escy said:

Even with the Cat D, you could sell it for £3500 all day.

A good example of an E46 M3 is worth £5-6k.

You could just steal it and break it for parts and make more than £3500 so it doesn't make sense. So steal £6k car, apply 'clean' ID, and you can drive around in a £6k that's only cost you £1500.
Even with the Cat D, you could sell it for £3500 all day.

That's how I got my bike back. It was advertised on Gumtree "CBR600 breaking for parts" two days after it was taken. I knew it was mine due to the custom paint job and the photo's in the advert. I passed the link onto the investigating officer and in total six bikes were recovered and the person selling the parts got five years for receiving stolen goods. The thieves got away but he got sent down at least.

If only there was a way to trace these people. It may be the previous owner and the seller is a local scrap collector who happens to be called Paul as well. He could have retained the log book to sell later.
