Proper motoring!

Have my eye on a tvr as next possible car - or should I be sensible and buy an s2000, heart vs head this one!
I traded my S2000 for a TVR! I loved the S2000, a fantastic car and would recommend to anyone. I owned two as traded my first for a brand new one.

However once you drive a TVR you realise how much more of an event it is and just how flawed i found the driving position in the S2000. Once i drove a TVR i realised the S2000's seat was too high and the steering wheel too low.

A TVR is so much more exciting to drive and the S2000 just can't compete with the fantastic noise of these cars smile

Fell in love with the Griffith when I saw the first one at the Motor Show, and is the only car I really, really want to own. Hopefully before the prices rocket, I'll have my early 4.3 Griff. smile

Love the Griff. Hate those alloys.

If you want a purer noise, go for the earlier pre-cat.

Agree with Podie's rear light comment but the curvier "hips" preferance made me laugh....

Also think the convex/concave dash of the non SE Griff is great piece of styling.

Beautiful car! I remember one blasting past me several years ago and I've loved TVR's ever since. The Griffith is the iconic one for me!

Fell in love with the Griff when it was unveiled at the motorshow. My dream from that moment on was to someday own a Griff of my own. When the last 100 were announced, an SE became my 'grail'. In Sept 2008 my dream became reality. It still makes me grin every time I take it out biggrin

Oh and they were built in Bristol Avenue, not Bristol road wink

Lovely, & quintessentially TVR. I can appreciate the clean lines, but I do thing the Chimaera is prettier by far.

McLaren F1?

I'm not saying I agree with the opinion that ABS is nannying, but I don't think cost was an issue with the F1.
you'd be surprised just how much adding ABS to the development cost would be - in the case of the Griffith, probably doubling the development cost of the whole vehicle.

enough even to make a sizeable dent in the F1 cost

Still the best looking TVR ever built IMO.

Had the same issue a couple of years ago... I went for a T350t! I have never regretted it since, especially when I overtake an S2000.

Underneath the carpets in this car are the signatures of all the guys at TVR who built them. I remember being at the factory at the time and seeing it without the capets inside and all the signatures on the fibreglass... have a photo of it somewhere.

I agreed a price of £31k with Graham the first owner for this Griff back in 2006, I got cold feet about it's future value and backed out, so I paid £17k for a 1999 Griff 500 and brought it back to the midlands from the Isle Of Wight.
I wish I had have bought the last Griff, if only for an investment but that would have meant keeping the mileage of 4009 down, and hardly driving it. It would have been my third Griff, I am however still in love with my Lotus and get a lot of thrills from it. I love that last Griff and in the hands of Fernhurst, it will have a higher price tag when they choose to sell.

I believe the appropriate term would be 'offers considered...' smile

I was looking over this car yesterday when I popped into Fernies with my Griff. It's not actually for sale, more of a show piece, I doubt they will ever sell it!!

I finally bought my Griff 500 this year. I've wanted one ever since they came out. Just starting up the engine is enough to bring a smile to the face.

Great write up. I have a GTR and a Griff 500SE and it's the latter I choose on a sunny sunday morning for a blast around West Sussex. Digital vs. Analogue I think the expression is.
