My other half's favourite car in the world - she even had a poster of it (probably still does!!) smile

£350k is a bit much perhaps - but it's obviously as good as they're going to get.

if only they put this v12 engine in the xk220.
i saw them race at the time on tv, half the grid spun in the wet, even racing drivers couldnt keep them in a straight line. You couldnt pay more than £250k for a car that has such a bad track record, but the v12 engine noise is as good as a ferrari flat or v12

Good old Tom. He knew how to make work and money. Jaguar were like putty in his hands. Tom Walkinshaw is a legend and sorely missed.

I didn't suggest a TWR link, I just reckon from that angle those cars look remarkably similar.

Is that a dogleg box with reverse top right, or a standard H with reverse bottom left?
This XJR-15 is fitted with the 5 speed road gearbox. Reverse is down and to the left.

They are epic to drive.

yes

As said at the start of the comments, these were a pig to drive by all accounts - with the worst of both worlds from track and road - but still an epic car. I think, for the road-legal V12 racket alone it's a 'buy'.

My lottery fantasy garage would skip this though and try to buy a (track only) XJR9 or 12. biggrin

Still a great Peter Stevens design-well done. Pity he's not styling the new stable of Lotii-they probably couldn't afford him. McLaren-can you use him for the F1 successor? It's a lot of money for an unsorted car-John Miles where are you, or Mr Cross-either will do.

He was a and not missed at all by the myriad of poor sods he ripped off in his career. IMHO wink

I think you're in a minority here... blows the fat boy 220 into the weeds looks-wise.

Maybe you have personal experience, but some of my happiest moments are Walkinshaw related, so I'll go with the original view that he was a legend...

Also the XJR-15 was the first CF tub road car (not as per popular perception, the McLaren F1).

I thought is sounded about right really, Incidentaly I had lunch with the MD of our sister company in France last week and he said he would love one of these but was disapointed with how much his XJ220 was now worth (he bought one new when they came out)so wouldnt buy one.

I like the XJR-15 but it would appear to have been a dismal failure as an investment.
If the Japanese buyer had invested his £500k a bit more wisely in 1991 he would now be able to buy a couple of Veyrons and still have plenty left over for an XJR-15 as well.

No, I remember specifically he lost it and crashed into the camera car. I think it was on one of his 3 million videos he has made.

Hmmm, Japanese customer... Bought but not driven...
Would this have been a member of the Honda NSX design team?

Awesome car, although I was reliably told it takes about 40 mins to start it up and it stinks of fuel and not too fuel efficient either. Proper race car then wink So glad they didn't put the engine in the XJ220.

Sat in one at the Autosport/Pistonheads show last January.

Yep thanks to Peter Stevens (www.peterstevens.co.uk) it looks awesome and it's better looking than the XJ220... FACT! Well, opinion, but it was there first and probably influenced the 220 design? Maybe nice car...
