I love this, I hope it is an improvement over the coupe I tested. I didn't like the gullwing doors (seem a bit of a gimmick to me), and found the cabin a bit too cramped. It seems like this has them cured. It did sound fantastic though, and with the roof off it must be brutal.

I guess they've made no revisions to the gearbox software to speed up the slow gear changes then?

Perhaps it's locked into the supply agreement for that transmission that they're not allowed to have gearchanges as fast as that in other cars?

Does it need to be faster?

I quite enjoy the smooth pause and rush of a torque converter auto... much better than the bland DSG stuff.

yes

It is ridiculous that the SLS is such a large car, designed from the ground up with its own chassis, yet the interior cabin is so tiny. The car itself is huge!

I doubt, sadly, that this convertible roadster is any better.. The seats in the coupe simply do not go back from enough before hitting the bulkhead.

Whoever signed off the design of the passenger cell was an idiot. All that money on developing a new tub and they only make it big enough for people well under 180cm. The SLS only really fits Hobbits. And Tom Cruise. The average chap in the US, or, indeed, the middle east, finds the SLS just too small...

Why forego the coolness of gullwing doors for this? Don't get it???
Because hearing that V8 in the open air must be positively orgasmic that's why! I would take the open top over the coupe any day. For the road it will still handle fantastically and if you really want a track weapon buy a Caterham.

This on a trip to the roads of the south of france in sunny weather...heaven.

Saw one of these on the road yesterday, it's actually quite small and sleek. I was really surprised as I thought it was a big lardy thing. Definitely a car you need to see in the metal before passing judgement.

The digital dash display is appalling for such a high end sports car.
Looks like something out of a VW Golf.

Coupe looks better but cab is more often than not a styling compromise, would look great in most colours, except brown.
there's a 911 coupe at my gym, which looks stunning in brown.
This looks great imho

I don't understand why car companies have such rubbish resolution LCD screen in the binnacle, hell if my phone which I get free from O2 has a high resolution screen, my MB should have it too.

Not a very PH thing to complain about, but it irks me nonetheless.
