Utterly brilliant compared to the constantly enlarging blob that is the 911 these days.
well this jaguar is taller and quite a lot wider and heavier than a 911, with only two seats.

"Under the new Jaguar's shapely bonnet is an all-alloy 3.0 V6 that's supercharged to produce 380hp and 332lb ft. That's not too shabby in itself, but the concept's performance is supplemented by an electric motor producing 95hp and 173lb ft - the driver can whip up the extra ponies at the push of a steering-wheel boost button. So, with an eight-speed gearbox and lightweight aluminium chassis, the C-X16 will crack the sprint to 62mph in 4.4secs and reach a top speed of 186mph. It's also capable of 41mpg, and emits just 165g/km of CO2."

Sounds more than "only just competitive" to me.

versus 350bhp but only 1380kg so 220kg lighter for the new 911 which will only be £2k more. The 911 will be slower (4.8 to 60 vs 4.4 and 180mph vs 186) but ultimately it isnt enough to steal that many sales from Porsche.

Jaguar themselves are saying that this wont be a high selling car
You're missing the point, now compare those figures against the Porsche, then take the CO2 figures into account. Then the story changes somewhat.
Im not saying that it isnt a good car and that it wont sell any. It is just not going to steal thousands of sales from Porsche at that price.

the CO2 difference knocks ~ £1900 off of the BIK tax for a company car which is significant but not a real killer blow on a £75k car with options. ( £8236 for the porsche and £6348 for the jag) in the real world the fuel svaings will be far less.

Yes but it doesn't look like a squashed beetle.

Wow, looks like b@stard child of a messy threesome between an Aston, ferrari and skyline.

its a lovely looking car, specially for that price.
the only thing (for as far as I can see now) what I do not like so much is that shut?line above the front wheels hood/bumper line/gap
but I guess there was not another way for that?

anyway, fantastic looking car, make it biggrin
Panel proliferation can be a good thing from a crash repair costs point of view.

Hmmm, I'm quite convinced that all the more expensive model will achieve will be to take sales away from XKR.

IMO the entry model need to start at sub £50k (for perception of value) and the range topper at sub £70k.

Stunning car though.

I actually think the high shot is its best angle. If they could somehow make the surfaces a little cleaner, especially around the nose, it would go from a 9 to a 10 in my vote.

I just hope the quality is there as it will be playing against some tough competition.

I was down at the Jaguar production factory a few weeks ago, and they were kitting out whole new production lines for a "new range".

This one?
