assuming that the car being shown off is really the top of the range one (highly likely) then with it costing £69k it is only just competitive.
the £51k version will be the normally aspirated one without the kers so with ~275-300bhp its also not especially good value and firmly in Cayman territory.

"Under the new Jaguar's shapely bonnet is an all-alloy 3.0 V6 that's supercharged to produce 380hp and 332lb ft. That's not too shabby in itself, but the concept's performance is supplemented by an electric motor producing 95hp and 173lb ft - the driver can whip up the extra ponies at the push of a steering-wheel boost button. So, with an eight-speed gearbox and lightweight aluminium chassis, the C-X16 will crack the sprint to 62mph in 4.4secs and reach a top speed of 186mph. It's also capable of 41mpg, and emits just 165g/km of CO2."

Sounds more than "only just competitive" to me.

its a lovely looking car, specially for that price.
the only thing (for as far as I can see now) what I do not like so much is that shut?line above the front wheels hood/bumper line/gap
but I guess there was not another way for that?

anyway, fantastic looking car, make it biggrin

I can't think of a car that Jaguar has produced since the e-type that has had the same sort of reaction as this.

There have been concepts that have been equally well received but I can't help but think that this will end up being a pivotal car for TATA Jaguar.

Good Luck to them.

It is a shame it is no longer British owned but maybe this would never have bene possible had it been.

No. He has a point. No-one is denying the mess Jaguar was in when it was 'British Owned' and Tata has certainly pushed the right buttons to make some good moves but, along with all the other great British institutions, you can't help but feel a little sad that we don't hold the keys to the door anymore.

Jaguar are completely on it at the moment, that looks superb. There was a time when i thought they were no longer capable of making a nice car. Thats stunning.

It's all down to perception, says Adrian, who reckons the car buying public have still to get used to the idea of the 'small' Jaguar sportscar being a genuine 911 contender, and not a Boxster rival
Better draw up a model that drops the hybrid gubbins to make room for 2 more seats then...

By the looks of the last four photo's, the PH snapper must of been in Munich with a telephoto lenssmile Stunning car though, and guaranteed to be selling at a premium by the dealers.

Looks very nice. Will the actual production version look this good? Jag have a tendancy to make brilliant looking concept and let themselves down slightly for the full production model.

How are they doing this, actually? The 5.0 V8 in supercharged form produces around 500bhp, so 100 bhp/litre - or 110 bhp/litre in the very top version. 380bhp from a 3.0 V6 is quite a step up from that is it not?

Utterly brilliant compared to the constantly enlarging blob that is the 911 these days.

I really hope Jaguar make the C-X16. I know it won't be as quick as the 911, nor will it be as light / good on track, but it would certainly be a fantastic rival and one I'd be sorely tempted by at those prices.

Come on Jaguar, sod waiting for "perception". Build it and they will come!

Oh and please make it less than 1500kg.

I wouldn't feel sad, if we did hold the keys Jag would have been in the ground a long time ago.

versus 350bhp but only 1380kg so 220kg lighter for the new 911 which will only be £2k more. The 911 will be slower (4.8 to 60 vs 4.4 and 180mph vs 186) but ultimately it isnt enough to steal that many sales from Porsche.

Jaguar themselves are saying that this wont be a high selling car

You're missing the point, now compare those figures against the Porsche, then take the CO2 figures into account. Then the story changes somewhat.
