the CO2 difference knocks ~ £1900 off of the BIK tax for a company car which is significant but not a real killer blow on a £75k car with options. ( £8236 for the porsche and £6348 for the jag) in the real world the fuel svaings will be far less.
Some countries have more punitive rates than others, though. For instance, Ireland's vehicle purchase tax rates are a % of price and look like this;0 - 120g 14% of OMSP
121 - 140g 16% of OMSP
141 - 155g 20% of OMSP
156 - 170g 24% of OMSP
171 - 190g 28% of OMSP
191 - 225g 32% of OMSP
226g and over 36% of OMSP
Their road tax rates ramp up more than ours too;
Band A: cars that produce 0-120g/km CO2 - €104 road tax;
Band B: cars that produce 121g - 140g/km CO2 - €156 road tax;
Band C: cars that produce 141g-155g/km CO2 - €302 road tax;
Band D: cars that produce 156g-170g/km CO2 - €447 road tax;
Band E: cars that produce 171g-190g/km CO2 - €630 road tax;
Band F: cars that produce 191g-225g/km CO2 - €1,050 road tax;
Band G: cars that produce 226g/km CO2 and over - €2,100 road tax

Now that's trolling.Ummm just worked my way down the various links to the show cars and this Jag is by far the nicest of the lot. Disregarding for a moment the performance vs cost element. Of the cars shown so far, none of them including the fezza would make me druel looking out of my window with it sat on the drive. However the Jag is just beautiful... all day long. At this price range, I don't think performace stats really enter my mind as there are specific cars that are built for just that purpose. I'd fully fall in love with this car and as long as it was well built sounded nice and was generally 'fast' I'd not care if its competition in the sector won on points.
Only trouble is I'm simply not rich enough to get one :-), I have 2nd hand XK money, but this being built would surely help my cause as people chopped in their old Xk's. It's stunning, I think Gunmetal with Ox blood seats would suffice.

I like it a lot
But...it's a bit old school I know - but I reckon a sports car should at least have the option of a manual gearbox
I don't think even Ferrari's have them anymore?But...it's a bit old school I know - but I reckon a sports car should at least have the option of a manual gearbox
The paddle shifter set up on the Jags works really well. I took a Supercharged XF for a blat yesterday, stuck it in sport and turned on the dynamic mode and drove it on the paddles. Just as much fun as using a stick.
