BM interiors. Stylish?
Quality maybe. But stylish? No. Ugly & plain more like it.
Just looks like black plastic on grey plastic.
What they should do in comparisons though is try and take as many shots as poss from the same angles even if the location is different.

IMO - I think modern BMW interiors are leading the way (in their class)

With the full leather option, BMW interiors are quite special.

It illicits no desire in me whatsoever,I've owned 4 BMW m cars and this looks too dull,is far too heavy and by the sounds of it has been neutered into some form of xfr wannabe.the e63 na version I tried was tremendous ,a very exciting car ,and where my money would go if I wanted a 4 door mega saloon.

Too heavy? I don't know, but can't imagine the new e63 is much lighter?

The E63 is about 95 kgs lighter with more torque.

But less power, even with the optional performance pack

No 557 with PP and even more torque which gets you to 155 quicker. Main point here is that M's traditionally had the advantage in agility over AMG's.

With this revelation, not looking good for Bavaria as Affalterbach is now King of the Hill. AMG has also been out for a couple of years surprising.

Don't forget the hand-built AMG also has a bigger engine by a whole 1.1 litres which Mercedes traditionally tune for longevity.

rofl about the longevity.... M engines are usually pretty robust. I'm willing to bet the M5 will go round the twistes better.

Lol ! I had a W210 E55, only ever had to change oil, I do recall the E39 M5 had vanos issues. Smaller engine more power, stress levels higher.

It does seem that this is the least "M" M-car to date, despite it clearly being very good (eg. Car Magazine saying there's not a big enough difference between it and the 550i).

The artificial noise nonsense is just loathsome (the BMW press release for the system is painful to read) - the fact that it got anywhere near the flagship M model speaks (in a computer-synthesised German accent) volumes.

So you haven't had an M5? All cars have their issues, including merc. Vanos doesn't go wrong very regularly with regular oil changes and not thrashing the car from cold.

I agree surprised ? No track times recorded by Autocar, the EVO test @ Bedford when done should be interesting.
