So, Ginetta working in a shed, produce a car weighing 1080kg with a mixture of Carbon and Steel for £68,000, while Lamborghini, with all the resources of Audi and Boeing, produce the Sesto Elemento at 999kg, and are going to charge probably +£1m for it !!

I'm surprised at the warm reception. I think Ginetta are going to struggle massively to convince clients to part with £68,000+. Can't see this taking off and selling in great numbers at all, far too expensive for the brand. Not a brilliant design either, don't like their additions to the original.

I'll take the Exige V6.
That completely misses the point of the car though. They only intend to sell 50, probably because that's the number they reckon will sell whilst still keeping the project profitable. It also keeps it exclusive, and means they don't have to pander to Porsche's mass-market and fit things like driver aids, air conditioning, ABS etc, thus severely diluting what the car is all about.

I also like the fact it'll be so rare. It'll mean when one tears past on a motorway or an A-road I'll feel like I've seen something special, rather than something like a Porsche 911 or Aston Martin AMV8.

Good on Ginetta and I wish them the best of luck. At a quantity of 50, I'm sure they will be able to sell these.

When I read the headline I thought great, 300bhp in an alternative package to Lotus - great, then saw the price - ouch. Still I like their bold move for an NA v6 rather than a turbo unit. Not worried about the co2 then.

I think it's great and is clearly in a different sector than the Exige V6 - more Sunday morning car with some track capability, whereas the Exige seems to have the balance the other way. Personally if I had the money and was looking for a new car I'd certainly consider one.

But, I just don't get the omission of ABS. There is simply no robust argument for not having it given the safety benefits it confers.

Thought it might be quicker than those fiqures suggest considering its price & weight,at least there are not any driver aids for good fun & games!

As others have said its designed to handle rather than have outright pace.

Seems pricey to me, TVR went down the toilet & only charged between roughly 40k to 55k,it has limited appeal, but thats a good thing.

Love the car but how do they get 305.6bhp per tonne when it weighs 1080kg and has 310bhp?

But how much did TVR lose through rectifying reliability problems? And don't forget knock on effects of these problems on customer confidence. And the fact that they couldn't sell into a global market, etc.

There was much more to it than simply unit price.

Why stop there when you could have a nice Mercedes S-class limo?

I like it and think the price is about right for a low volume build.

Good luck, and fair play, to LNT and everyone involved at Ginetta.

That strikes me as an awful lot of money for something which looks to sit between the Evora and Exige V6. Still, going purely on the stats, it looks like exactly my kind of car and Ginetta have never really lacked when it comes to execution, so I suspect I will be watching residuals with great interest in a few years' time.

It's better looking than either Lotus, too.

Nice idea and looks good, but for the money and size of the lump in it i'd like more power than that.

They are only planning to sell 50 so obviously not planning to sell it in large numbers.
50 per year.....

Well that answers my question, cheers Ginetta, hope is not lost!

Think this could be quite special to drive.

Anyone else surprised by the 0-60 time of 4.9s considering it's got 300HP per ton?

If you're even trying to compare the two surely you've answered your own question? The driving experience will surely be entirely different?
But if we are talking about the pure driving experience here, surely there are cars cheaper and offer the same kind of driving experience with similar performance (if not better). How about their own G40?

The fact is it's a 'mid-performance' pure driving machine has a £68k+ price tag.

I love it.

But I would still prefer ABS, PAS and even a basic aircon. It is 2012 nearly after all, and even Porsche put this in the GT3 , or make it available.

I am all for hardcore sports cars, but I don't see the point in wearing a hair shirt and suffering for the sake of it. If these things are available as extras at not too silly a price, I'd be interested.
