IMHO Mr T could rival Lotus in the 21st centuary. His clear thinking and strategy outguns anything at Hethel....one man, one focus and very deep pockets.

I really admire the rebirth of Ginetta - but this design doesn't seem to fit into the retro-style DNA pattern of recent "G's" - I'm amazed that no one has mentioned the likeness to a VX220 so far.

OK it's a slightly different animal but, give or take a beer or two, if you're looking at weekend fun £68K would buy you 10 of these....

..and no I'm not the vendor !

Had there been many if any of the farbio/farbound cars sold?
I've liked this car since it first came on the go, and I feel one of the issues with it is as someone stated, 'It looks like a 10 year old design'
It looked excellent when it was first doing the rounds in the magazines, and really seemed like something special, but that was a long time ago and it just seems like it's always been on the brink of being on sale.
Hopefully it goes well, and I have to say that a G40R is an incredibly tempting car as well!

Would love to see this in production. Great looking lightweight car with 300 + BHP no driver aids, like has already been said, if only he'd bought TVR.

Also surprised at the 'tame' performance figures. Hopefully a case of under promise over deliver when the car arrives. Now where did I put my secret piggy bank ?

I also like it, a lot. But I wish Ginetta would do something with their badges. The font they use for the badge reminds me of a low budget 70s metal band's album cover and adds cheapness, imho..
exactly.. some graphic designer needed to tune it a bit - but on the other hand side it is good they take care of cars first, badge logo can wait.. smile I think big boss follows this forum so we will see it soon

I wouldn't say it's "less focused" because it has a DSG box. Look at the M3 CSL, the most hardcore model was sequential only. It's also faster and you don't have to take your hands off the wheel to change gear. Thats not to say you're not entitled to prefer a manual, i certainly like the old fashioned way more.

1100kg makes it a lot more nimble than any current Porsche too and far more exclusive.

So I dont agree that they aren't rivals, id certainly have a hard time choosing between the two.

Yes the Ginetta has a more hardcore setup which makes it more niche but who knows if thats a good thing these days. Also, how much is the lack of TC, ABS etc down to cost saving (TVR style) as apposed to wanting to make it as stripped out and simple as possible.

the Artega GT is sadly a bit heavier then they originally dreamt of...
it is 1180kg dry weight and 1285kg with the standard passenger and some fuel or so?

the DSG is sadly a bit to good...to smooth so to speak wich is good but not involving...
but the ride is pretty good, it feels immediately good when you drive it but not raw..its a bit to refined sadly, but that you can change biggrin
they are planning a supercharger and some other little changes.

its a nice car all in all, but now the new Lotus Exige S V6 will overrule it with his I guess more DF (driving-fun)more a to play with car.

Id agree but not because of the gearbox. Put it this way, if the cars were otherwise the same as they are now but they swapped gearboxes, would the Artega suddenly become the more focused of the two? I doubt it, there are far more important factors IMO.

Nowt to stop a G40 owner from getting the car sprayed and re-trimmed etc., or fettling with the generic engine.
I have been told that the G40 has been designed to accept any modern 4 IL cylinder engine.

There was a burnt orange non FI one that London Group bought and a black one that TVR Centre had.

I saw a White one but think that may have been a Marsh car.

Beyond that, I saw no evidence of any other cars.

Marsh were insisting that all the others were sold overseas but as anyone in the industry knows this is a great way of blagging numbers as no one can ever check.

I would say that there were 3 Farbios and not much to support a claim that cars were going abroad.

What's the on-the-road cost? Does it have a roof?

Silly bugger. Although can't blame you, many still even today think Ginetta is Italian!

The Ginetta company was founded in 1958 and the badge appeared soon after.
Do you think Lotus would change their badge?

My book on the marque was first published (not a plug, it's long out of print) in 1983, and the badge was revered enough to warrant it being not just the front cover, but the back as well, giving it the impact it deserved over the cars.

Although to be fair to you the current badge has a different colour to the original and looks flat in comparison to the one below on the book.

I don't think you'd never leave out traction control for any reason other than cost saving. There's no disadvantage in having it if you can turn it off... it's not as if it weighs anything. Same with ABS, although the lack of servo might make that impossible.
