They are using the Duratec 37 Ti-VCT engine from the Ford Mustang ($22,310 + tax)/Lincoln MKX/Ford Edge Sport I believe.

I like the front and rear. Side view is a bit slab like. Two tone doesn't help.

Any interior shots?

Quite pricey.

Too heavy for the spec. 950kg at the kerb would be more like it.

Anyone else surprised by the 0-60 time of 4.9s considering it's got 300HP per ton?
It does seem a bit high, considering an Elise 111R will do it in that with under 220bhp/tonne. Hopefully it indicates that they've managed to get the CoG quite a long way forward and quite low down compared to the Elise.

But if we are talking about the pure driving experience here, surely there are cars cheaper and offer the same kind of driving experience with similar performance (if not better). How about their own G40?

The fact is it's a 'mid-performance' pure driving machine has a £68k+ price tag.
You reckon the G40 could be quicker than this?

Not likely.

0-60 time is influenced by traction (no electronics so no launch control on this) and gearing and gearbox (no double-clutch cleverness). Plus they could be quoting conservative figures. 0-60 is not that relevant in the real world. I'd be more interested in 30-70 or in-gear flexibility.

So, Ginetta working in a shed, produce a car weighing 1080kg with a mixture of Carbon and Steel for £68,000, while Lamborghini, with all the resources of Audi and Boeing, produce the Sesto Elemento at 999kg, and are going to charge probably +£1m for it !!
In fairness, Lambo includes a whopping great V12 in both kerb weight and price. smile

Will need to have something special to compete and pull customers away from Lotus and Noble.

Not sure people associate Ginetta with ‘premium’ sports cars.

It looks fantastic but looking at the price I ask myself, would I buy this over a Nissan GTR? scratchchin
Why stop there when you could have a nice Mercedes S-class limo?
I guess a brand new £70k S-Class(the basic model) is a much slower car.

I love it.

But I would still prefer ABS, PAS and even a basic aircon. It is 2012 nearly after all, and even Porsche put this in the GT3 , or make it available.

I am all for hardcore sports cars, but I don't see the point in wearing a hair shirt and suffering for the sake of it. If these things are available as extras at not too silly a price, I'd be interested.
If you want that, buy a Porsche or any one of thousands of other cars which offer it. The single biggest reason I like this is that it doesn't have power steering and a brake servo (don't particularly care about ABS as such, as long as it's a good system). Power steering setups never seem to feel anywhere near as good as good unassisted ones, and I've never liked the feel of servo assisted brakes either. If a light car is set up right, there is no significant advantage in having power assistance anyway.

I don't think offering them as options works. If the suspension geometry is set up for an unassisted rack, there's no point in having assistance and having two completely different geometry setups (probably complete with different mount points, I don't know?) would compromise the design too much.

Not when I saw the prototype last year in Paris - did they change the spec? grumpy

Do Noble build a car in this segment any more?

Bear in mind they don't need to pull many people out of their Lotuses/Porsches to hit their 50/year target, and their reputation among motorsport enthusiasts might help there.

Well, since people here seem only care about how it drives. The point of this car seems to be all about its driving experience, not 0-60 or top speed or ring time. Then, 0.5 seconds difference shouldn't be the fact that G60 is twice the money of a G40 (road version).

yes

I don't see why 'no PAS' = 'hair shirt'. Similarly, this is Britain, not Arizona, so neither is 'no aircon' either. If I was buying a Porsche, I wouldn't specify aircon because it's not a luxury saloon, for the same reason I wouldn't specify automatic transmission, or any option that made it heavier or more complicated than it needed to be.

I get the point about ABS though. It hardly detracts from the driving experience and it is IMO one of the things that seriously undermined TVR.

British hand built, exlusive and only £68,000.00 , i am amazed they can produce it for that price and include a margin.

As for the people who say its to expensive...you really have no idea what it costs to produce a "production" ready vehicle. This is not the late 80's early 90's anymore!

Everything about this car sounds great......apart from the price frown I'd rather have an Evora for less money. Maybe it was wishful thinking expecting the G60 to be priced under £40k.
