But it's not an RS500. You need to add 50% - 75% of the price again for a similar RS500.Crazy money. I have to say I don't really see the massive appeal of 'unmodified' when it comes to these either. For that much cash I'd want one in full touring car spec.
I loved my Sapphire Cosworth even though it wasn't particularly refined or relaxing to be in. It always felt absolutely bonkers to drive, like some kind of fairground ride.

My Dad has a black Rs500 which he's had since new (albeit nicked and recovered 18 years ago) and I told him about how much they're worth now. He was quite shocked about it. To find an unmolested 1 with very few mods and everything intact is rare. Wonder if this dude has a spare front bumper, cos they're worth a fortune now.

Really don't see the fasination people have with these cars but each to their own.
A mates got one and it's nothing special at all to drive and the looks do nothing for me.
I'll don my fireproof suit now and await the flaming!
to be honest i agree with you, i regard all Sierra's as a window cleaners car. Much rather an Escort Cosworth instead. A mates got one and it's nothing special at all to drive and the looks do nothing for me.

I remember going in a normal Sapphire expecting it to be really quick and it wasn't. There is a reason why Ford installed the extra fuel rail and bigger turbo in these, and it was so it was easy to extract another 200 plus bhp so it seems pointless to buy an RS500 and not let it off its leash.

Haven't seen one of these in years, especially in "stock" condition. Trying to remember what they sold for new back in 87......
They were £19,950 vs. £15,950 of the regular RS Cosworth. To think, at the time, "left over" RS200s were going for less. I know which i'd rather own.....& it doesn't say Sierra on the V5!

????????? Have a look around, there are several spotless examples of RS500s for under £20,000. £40K is just insane, that's why it's been for sale for some time.
Where? Any links?stevenr said:

Where? Any links?I have seen thoroughly knackered RS500s (ie: unroadworthy, rotten shell and bits missing) sell for north of ten grand...

Yes, for homologation purposes............. as you say, shame to have so much untapped potential, the RS500 has eight fuel injectors for four cylinders but only four of the injectors are working on the standard car My Escort has the RS500 inlet and all eight injectors are available
