Having seen that, I have to agree with comments on the original thread that the 'Ring Taxi really should have known what was coming up and been travelling much slower.

Other (presumably lesser drivers) had managed to stop/slow down to avoid the carnage before the taxi came barrelling in.

Ofcourse, one is presuming that the track management told the taxi about the works. Given their utter failure to warn of the works at trackside, it's entirely believable that they didn't bother telling anyone either.

Now, as a private road surely the owners have a duty of care to it's users? Is that a worm I see crawling out of a can...

Doesn't the ring taxi have some sort of radio link to race control? You think they would have warned them!

Good grief! I can't see how that's anything other than the fault of the Nurburgring management. I hope no-one was hurt.

As said there was no sign. But just as bad were all the rubber necks parking up right in the middle of the track causing even greater danger.

Unreal.

So the strict rule of no Video recording on tourist days is no longer applicable ?

That Red 944 was very fortunate, managing to keep it out of the carnage, going on the grass.

SURELY it would be a worthwhile investment to have controlled coloured lights all round the track so that if an incident is spotted on cctv, the operator can press one button and half a mile worth of 'slow the f**k down' lights can start blinking instantly and a green light after the incident, A la F1. why do they not have this relatively inexpensive basic safety system in place...

I think the point is that it is a road, so gets the same signs as any other German road.

Which seems daft when they've got armco and rumble strips. Ostensibly it's a road, disguised as a racetrack. Besides, even motorways have gantries warning of 'Accident Ahead' or 'Congestion After Next Jct' etc.

Some sort of warning system would be inexpensive and possibly a life-saver.

Wooo! Check out the 10.30 - You can see someone getting rear ended - Guessing that was the Uk BMW! Oh dear!
Very lucky not to hit the PH'er in a TVR T350, you can just make him out swerving to the left as the Ring taxi goes right and hits the stationary Corvette and BM.

The rule has been there for a while, a lot of people just put their cameras on the mount after they've passed through the barrier and remove them again before they come off the circuit.
