Hi i am new here, and i used redex a few years back because the car i had failed on emissions, i gave it a good run after pouring in the redex, took the car back and it passed so yeah i would say it does what it is suppose to. Hope this helps.
Did you try a good run without adding redex first because chances are it would have had the same result - its called an italian tune up......Hehe i know what your saying, just put half a bottle in a full tank on my ford fiesta 1.2 vtec 1998, and i took it for a good run today and noticed on the way back the needle on the temp gauge was not going up half as much as it use to normally it would go between the N and the O on the normal word. but it hardly budged. Why is this i wonder ?.

Tell me more about this 1998 1.2 Fiesta VTECRead this thread on Sunday morning and later on when cleaning the Clubman on Sunday I spied a half used bottle of Redex in the garage bought years ago. The Clubman has a propensity to coke up its head so I figured chucking the recommended 1/4 of a bottle into the fuel tank might do something or nothing.
First impressions on driving it on Monday morning was that the engine seemed smoother and revved more cleanly. Now Tuesday evening I can't really tell any difference.

I can tell your intrigued Defcon so here goes. It is due a m o t in april, it has only 63k on clock shabby body and a right big dint in the boot door, but the engine is good so i knew it was worth parting with 500 quid for it. Runs well starts up everytime, and i have just had the front brakes done and both cv boots done too. I have just fitted a new filter to it for 3 quid, and after the m o t i am doing a oil and filter change, going to fit a bosch filter 5 quid and buying 5ltr fully synthetic oil 5w 30 for 20 quid eurocarparts is the cheapest i have come across. I have had it nearly a year as i bought it with nearly full mot and tax runs out end of this month so a few quid to spend but worth it, going to give it another year of running then maybe save some money up and buy a toyota or golf, as i get bored easy, just a cheap run about, i have had my fair share of fast cars and pimped a citreon vts up and the mosfet amp i fitted in it along with a kenwood single cd changer and 6 by nine sony speakers, it sounded mint but that was a long time ago when lou bega was singing a little bit of mary all night long lol.colski777 said:

Ahem there is no such thing as a Fiesta VTEC, its a 1.25 Zetec engine, designed by Yamaha and Mazda.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Zetec_engine

This is in the PETROL/DIESEL units used in Polo/Fabia /Seat models.
Going back to the last two Vauxhalls I owned, one was a MK2 1600 ,with a carb, the other a later mark of J prefix, both running on 95 fuel with the ign switch set to 95. The 1600 would have benefited from some sort of in use engine cleaner, as when I had head off ,the valves were coked up, whilst when I had the head off the 2.0L injection model, the pistons and valves were clean at well over 120k miles. Interestingly enough, I gave a mate a hand to change head gasket on an SRI MK2 and that was cleaner than clean.
