175MPH R-R Silver Shadow Unleashed

Ultimate (sort-of) Gentleman's Express coming to Santa Pod

For those of you disappointingly unable to get to B&Q or Tesco at the weekend, there looks to be an amusing alternative on offer at Santa Pod.

They're running a 'Flame and Thunder' event which, say the organisers, already has 'a superb mix of race and stunt cars to marvel at', but will now also feature this excellent Rolls Royce Silver Shadow.

Excellent, because thanks to its big-block Chevy V8, the old Shadow now runs the quarter mile in 7.93secs with a 175mph top speed - which almost makes it more 'Wilton House' than the Earl of Pembroke's Bugatti Veyron. (Apparently the Veyron Super Sport is a good couple of secs slower over the same distance.)

The car has been prepared by WG Racing and uses a cutting-edge selection of the latest drag tricks and lightening methods, including a bespoke Chrome-Moly twin tube chassis, suspension and braking system.

Thanks to PHer central for the picture.

Totally bonkers.

Just like the Classic Car Mechanics crowd with their black Shadow at Le Mans.

There is something deliciously right about the irreverence shown to a Roller sometimes.

Bespoke chassis and running gear, and a chevy V8.

It's not really a shad, is it?

Totally bonkers and what a laugh but……. not wanting to put a damper on things, just wait for RR to slap an injunction for using the famous grille and flying lady which are trademark protected.
lets see.
But best looking wedding drag car out therehehe

That's a good commentary!

One should respect such makes but, as many PHs say, these things make us smile even if everything isn't going fine.

Just to make a point; Rolls Royce have used Chevrolet V8s in the past. It's as much a Rolls Royce as Andy Frost's Red Victor is a Vauxhall Victor! No one complains about that do they smile

It's also been on display at RR days with the company big wigs there so there is no issue with the car!

There's about as much Silver Shadow in that as the LDV Convoy minibus with a RR grille that I saw last week.

Great fun though smile

The first 'shell' was destroyed when the car 'rolled' (I thangu) off the load-bed of the transport truck and back into a garage. They had to get another shell and graft it all together again + an acro for the garage roof!
