Most bhp per mpg
Discussion
I don't think there is anybody in the world who can match my rubbish figures of town short journeys driving(which is 99% of my driving)
These are my averages over 20 YEARS
99BHP @ 22.5 MPG -worst from that lot was 60bhp Toyota Starlet @ 17mpg , best was Micra 55bhp @33mpg ( yes 4 of them- all same)
No me neither

That must be one of the dullest things to measure a car by.
Well it's effectively the same as brake specific fuel consumption, which is one of the key parameters that engine designers look at.I'd argue that mpg per bhp/ton (or mpg per second 0-60 perhaps!) is what you really want to measure for a sports car, but I reckon some indication of economy against performance is very useful. Fuel is sufficiently expensive now that you could rapidly save the cost of a couple of track days you might not otherwise be able to afford by, say, hooning around in, say, an Elise rather than a big thirsty V8.

Do you stop the engines when you go to work, or do you leave them running? These are my averages over 20 YEARS

ps To the nay sayers this is far from dull as a measurement. This is one of my highest criteria for buying a car and possibly the brightest (only) hope for piston heads over the next 20 years.
A. Why would you want a car that was slower and yet uses more fuel?
B. How else are manufacturers going to keep up with tough eco targets and still produce sports models?!
