I would be interested to know how the new M5 could be £65K+ more fun than a good second hand E39 (although I am somewhat biased about this subject!)

Also the E39 M5 comes with the advantages of zero depreciation, and a lovely 6 speed manual box so you can play nice tunes with the engine! biggrin

However, having said that if I won the lottery, I'd have a new M5 in the blink of an eye!

Watching this video, and reading anything about the new M5, has given me an almost insatiable thirst for an E60 one...

Too many cock sucking, tree hugging assholes in the UK that is why. They moan about all kinds of eco fart. I remember the bullst from the weathermen saying by the end of October we were going to see subzero temperatures and an early winter which would be the coldest in years to come. End Result??? well it was one of the warmest Octobers and even November is still warmer than average for this time of year.
I would NEVER believe this global warming st.
I bet there would be an ad in the UK allowed to show cyclists weaving in and out of motorists, and even showing pedestrains to run out in front of cars and making them stop. If the car driver hits them or blows the horn, he is the devil and must be confined to prison.

It's always a shock when you watch car ads in countries like the US where they are still allowed to show things like taking a corner at any kind of speed which makes the body roll. UK rules are pathetic.

No offence but family cars are usually in a worse condiion. Bumps, car park dings, nasty interior from lil ones, damaged interior parts you name it.

It's a;most 11 years old now! Full main dealer service history, always garaged, and because it is a "family car" it hasn't been thrashed. It still drives like new and is in near perfect condition.

I don't know if it's just me, or it's the crappy speakers that I am listening to it on the works PC but that V8 M5 sounds very much like a well sorted Imprezza rally car?

It does, in fact so much so that on Forza 4 people complained that the Impreza and M5 share the same sound, (they are recorded sounds)

IMO the F10 is the most boring looking 5 series ever made.

It doesn't have 'want one' looks does it? I'm not sure I'd even say it looks restrained and tasteful. Since when has it been a BMW core value not to look good?

Perhaps it's a grower?

I loved the sharp lines and handling of E28 it seemed to shrug off its mass and go! Then E39 I saw as electrical Russian roulette gamble and wasn’t impressed with overall package the engine was good so was the tech but somehow felt poor value and bland so we got XJR instead (cheaper with way more kit for same performance).

The later F series versions compounded the poor value for me and with amount of revisions and tweaks this series received early oon just added to the fact it wasn’t conceived very well imho still had lots of tech problems but started to regain the distinctive M5 shape and feel. This new one looks even better and sounds nicer than V10 I hated because the power was no excuse for disguising over the many smaller electrical issues it still has.

I'm loving this new M5 V8 though!

It's the interior design of BMWs that make lean towards the Mercs.
Exactly the opposite for me. It's a matter of personal taste.

The first M5 was my dream car. The latest one is (to my own eyes) near perfection. Too bad I don't have the cash. Here in Singapore one of these would cost about 250K (POUNDS) to drive away...
