Great shed, had one briefly and loved every minute of it, only got shot of it to replace it with a 406 saloon deisel as I was suddenly commuting 100 miles a day, 5 years on and 200,000+ miles the old girl is still going strong but I do miss the coupe, much nicer than today's 407 coupe and better looking than the C70 of the era.

I had a 406 saloon and Peugeot broke their usual mould when they made that, it was terrifically reliable, a fantastic daily car. I cant help but wonder if the usual Peugeot people were out of the room at the time someone sensible came up with the 406.
Totally agree. I put about 60k miles on mine in about 3 years and it was absolutely faultless. Never had to spend a penny on it other than regular servicing. Known affectionately to my friends as 'the taxi', I do miss it sometimes.

Oh, good shed! Much better than that hunk of junk from last week.

never been a fan of the badge, however I used to love their adverts in the late 80's / early 90's

Very nice looking shed, and definitely a stylish motorway wafter. However, I reckon that (in winter) they use a lot more salt up there in Scotland compared to down south. So I'd want to be sure it didn't have serious hidden underbody rust issues.Having said that, this is shed money. You could run it until it' MoT expired and if if failed to pass next time sell it for spares. It's have to be worth 500 quid (or would it?).

We could start a complete new thread called shed-on-omics.... :-)

I had a dark grey V6 with a mkII front bumper and I loved the way the V6 behaved and how the car looked.
I did get really bored with the interior although the seats IMHO are the most comfortable I have ever had.
It was quite thirsty as well but made a lovely noise... I sold it to an Albanian stripclub bouncer in Brussels; enough said!

Still, IMO, one the nicest looking modern cars ever.

Had a 2.0 for a couple of years followed by a 3.0. Drove to Spain, four up and proved to be perfect for the job.

Definitely a wafter... and those electric, leather Recaros are THE most comfortable seats ever.

Electrical gremlins soured the experience though...

Not a bad looker, still shabby French build quality.

Alot of car for the cash, and something different.

Possibly better-looking than a C70, but not as well built.

Wow, I can't believe you guys featured a car I spotted. I thought if anything you guys would have went with the Merc Pillarless Coupe but much appreciated.

I love these cars and looking at this one you can eat your dinner off that engine bay.

I almost bought one a few years back in 3.0ltr form because I wanted to drive to the South of France but it was at the time when petrol prices were starting to approach the £1 per litre mark (if only petrol was that price now lol) so decided against it.

With these cars, you have to make sure the service history complete and up to date, check the levels on a monthly basis and obviously keep on top of any bodywork blemishes to avoid the dreaded rust. Electrics can be a bit erratic but that's a given with most French cars and normally not too expensive to fix if you are handy with the tools.

If insurance isnt too much of an issue in the next year or so I may actually consider buying one.
I was looking at 2.0 ones of these last year, but the insurance was ridiculous for what they are - about the same as a 3.0 turbo gen 3 Supra for some unfathomable reason!

Beautiful, beautiful cars though... a red one for me please!

Not a bad looker, i think for similar money the Ford Cougar would be a safer punt.

Think this is a great suggestion for a shed.

It looks good, should go pretty well, and ought to be comfortable.

Not for me though, as (a) I'm not looking to buy at shed money, and (b) it is front-wheel-drive, which I am far from interested in. But for potential shed purchasers, seems to fit the bill just right. Good spot, I'd say.

And why do so many posters feel the need to put up pics/ads of other possible sheds (and I hate the looks of the Cougar almost as much as the Anal Probe)?

Comment on the car provided, what you think is good or bad about it, what you may know of the cars, or just opinions. But posting something else - why?

Luckily this isn't your dictatorship with your rules. If you look back over pretty much every SOTW you'll see people will always post comparisons for similar money. Which unlike your comment, is completely relevant. coffee

I think that looks better now than when it came out! Shame they ruined the interior with the fat man seats & dash, shouldv'e left it the same as the Mondeo.

Decent shed. I'd consider it. Have considered one in the past, but then it wasn't quite shed money.

I really like these cars. The V6 sounds good, but to be honest I'd take a diesel version instead. The diesel engine might not be as refined and smooth, but I think it fits better to the overall driving character of the car. In a couple of year’s time it would be great as a "modern classic" European cruiser.

Comparisons may make sense, but it seems to me that many of those posts seem to be saying that PH chose 'the wrong sotw'. I would therefore say that my post is somewhat relevant. Not expecting us to all agree, that would be boring!

But no worries about rules dictatorships, that's just my opinion or viewpoint.
And opinions are like aholes - everyone has one ;-)

Coffee might just make me more irascible, btw, so I try to drink a bit less of it and avoid whinge/rant comments too often in forums. Maybe I need to use more emoticons. And less posts. Whatever.

Surely the fact you can pick up a v6 for £7-800 qualifies it as a shed. When they came out there was very little Coupe wise, and to have a v6 with Pininfarina looks made it stand out from the rest (although the Fiat Coup Turbo was quite a car too). The other car i considered at the time was the Prelude. Certainly today, there are much better options for the price.
Very little coupe wise at the time? You already mention the Fiat & the Prelude. There was also Cougar, Celica, Honda Integra, Alfa GTV, Mazda MX6, Nissan 200, Volvo C70, you could also throw the 3 series into that pot too.
