It's bad when you drive for hundreds of miles with nothing on the radio but jebus talk shows.

I generally bring a few audio books with me for the purpose. I also have satellite radio but we did not use it. The regular radio stations are a mix of religious, screaming political commentators and music that I had either heard a hundred times.( more Eagles/Beatles/pop fodder anyone?), or music from people who are younger than my son and to which I have no connectionI hope hire care have mp3 plugs these days.

Oh this takes me back. I done La-New York taken in Texas and alot of the 66. It was the best trip of my life and we covered 4500 miles in just over 2 weeks. Its amazing and were going back next year and doing Miami-Seattle
That's a huge trip and will bring you through some spectacular country. My round trip this time was 6060 miles in two weeks.I did an Orange County > Las Vegas > Grand Canyon > Orange County trip in May this year, staying in a few Motels along the way in Williams and a couple of other places I can't remember...
We didn't spend a lot of time on Route 66, but stopped off in Seligman, AZ for lunch one day and drove a few hours down R66 on our way back to CA. It was without a doubt the best trip of my life to date; mainly down to the people I went with, and one day in the not too distant future I'd love to drive the whole thing.
(Excuse the Hipstamatic photo)
Heck, I loved it so much, I've got a VS Route 66 pedal on my guitar rig

Stunning. Thank you so much for these posts and photographs - they simply are brilliant. I would absolutely love to do something like this, but sadly I fear I won't get the time until it's all changed. Still, at least it's a little closer after reading about it on here.
Once you get into the South and West it changes more slowly. There is another thread of at least equal size to cover the many notable places I missed, so don't give upGassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
