When you talk to people about TVR the Griffith is normally the only car mentioned ( normal people anyway )
Here are the tools in question, both fine machines , i'd consider swapping the Green one for a Griff ( maybe )
Dont think I agree with you there but then maybe your discussions are with non-owners.Here are the tools in question, both fine machines , i'd consider swapping the Green one for a Griff ( maybe )

Although the Griff is a super TVR, it isnt my favorite and same applies to many of the owners I know.
When talking in general with other owners, they tend to talk about their own model, as thats the one they chose as their favorite. Theres an opinion split between RV8 cars - Speed6 T cars.
I had an early Tuscan which I loved and which was replaced by a last of the build 2006 Mk2 Tuscan Convertible, which from my experience has greatly improved build quality and is the best TVR I have owned.
Before the Tuscans I had a Chimaera 400, have now recently purchased another, again a great car.
When I talk to friends there is always the passionate talk of the Cerbera, Tuscans, Sags etc.
Best handling always brings in the Tamora and T350. When you start talking of 'importance' people mention the Griff.
Noise talk brings in the SEAC etc.
Each model is loved for different reasons.
If I had 100k to spend now I would probably not look at a foriegn built TVR as it would have lost the point for me.
I travel a lot and many of my friends are German who all admire the British Sports Car heretige.
I also travel to the US and again I have plenty of discussions about Brit Sports car history and the love many Americans have for them.
Maybe a Ginetta would get my money simply because they are keeping our flag flying.

Just to be clear..
When you mention TVR to people in passing they always mention the Griff as being the most beautiful looking machine , like a said a work of art regards it's simple body design and the car most people associate with the company, that is all. When i say *best* this is what i'm referring to as it seems the car most people know and love etc. Reckon it sounds the best too
you are 100% right, 99.9% of non TVR owners always say the Griff is their fav TVR, and lets be honest it is the best looking by a mile. So, wait, you're quoting an article in which Al "bullst" Melling was bigging up his rip-off (sorry, re-imagined) Griffith clone as evidence that it's the most popular? “The Griffith was always the most popular TVR,” said Melling. “It is still highly recognisable on both sides of the Atlantic and it’s a tragedy it was allowed to die. But we’re doing something about that.”
Like he's going to say "actually the Griffith wasn't the best, but buy my Griffith clone anyway".

I have 2 strange friends both with Chims, a few years back we were parked in a pub carpark, I was in the Griff them in their Chims, a load of kids came up to us and one said to my mate "is that a MG mister" and another kid said "can't you afford a Griff"
100% true story

Purely a UK thing - over here it was the Chimaera that people most readily associate with TVR and the one that got the mag headlines back then (no LHD Tuscans until 2003, no LHD Cerbs at all); precious little Griff coverage after the Chim was launched. Overall consensus is that with the Chimaera, TVR lost the last traces of its kit car origins (i.e. that rear end) design-wise.

with it's rover engine, TVR lost it's kit car origins with the Cerbera AJP8 4.2, if it ain't got a TVR engine it will always have the kit car tag,
though who cares if people call em kit cars as both the Griff/Chim 500s are bloody awesome
