As I said I haven't knowingly annoyed anyone, i.e no arguments with anyone or anything like that.

It don't think it was random, you'd need to know my car was there.

The insurance will be sending someone out to do a mobile estimate on my car.

Either you've unintentionally pissed someone off or someone with a similar car has. If the car in front isn't damaged, this isn't an act of mindless vandalism.

I doubt they will catch the feckers, purchase the car back if a write-off and have it wrapped.

Really sorry to see that, utterly mindless. Glad no-one has been hurt in the whole affair however. Hopefully you can show the insurer receipts for the recent work done so they can give you a good valuation of the car.

They're scum but that's targeted vandalism.

There's only one thing to do in a situation like this. Make the most of it.

Keep an eye out.
The people who did it will be back to see how it looks.

Watch out for a car driving past, slowing down and driving off again. Trust me, they'll be back.

That is just ridiculous. I hope that they catch the person(s) responsible and hang them.

Hope it gets sorted soon.

Gutted for you. frown

I'd be doubtful about respraying it personally - I've often heard that once there's stripper/brakefluid/etc on paint and on the metal, it'll never be quite right ever again even if you take it down to bare metal. It'd be easier to reshell it, and that's not worth it.

Take it back to standard, keep the bits, buy a new project. smile

Jeez, not good. It amazes me how people can do something like this to somebody else's property. If it was random take some pleasure in knowing that these tw@ts will probably never enjoy a nice car themselves.

Those were exactly my words.

OP, you've clearly pissed somebody off, my friend.
I assure you sir, you do not have to piss anyone off for someone to get jealous.
I agree with heebeegeetee - that is a planned attack on the car.
Any 'marginal' overtakes recently OP?

With all respect to the OP and his car, in terms of value, most of the UK know that an MX-5 is not a particularly expensive car and is unlikely to incite much jealously.

Admiration from petrolheads? Yes.
Jealously? No.

Really sorry it happened OP. I've been the recipient of a couple of 'keyings' and had a convertiable roof slashed, so I know the feeling.

That is terrible, awful, christ, why???

You must have pissed someone off I think, I can't see why someone would go to the effort of getting that acid stuff just because they are jealous.

Have you done anything as simple as cut someone up while driving or given someone a hand gesture / shake of head / biped your horn for their bad driving?

Did you overtake anyone? It could be a mentalist like that who followed you home because you'd overtaken them.

Remember, the person who has done this, doesn't think like a normal person, so what has caused them to do it may be so insignificant you simply can't comprehend.

As someone as already said, I hope they have a terrible life, and karma does it stuff.

I also like the idea of putting a wrap on it, how much would that cost, and start taking it to track days.

Sorry to see those pics OP, I know how you feel. Same thing happened to me last year, absolutely fuming i was. Never found out who or why, but as some people are saying, they may come back. They didnt on mine, but maybe because i left it as is and didnt bother with the insurance re-spray route, I went for the shabbiest looking car in town route instead. The world is full of idiotic scum who dont give a damn about other peoples possession .. Grrr getting angry again now

A wrap will look almost as bad if it's just applied over damaged paint. All the crevasses will show through the wrap, and it probably would end up being different colours too.

a million times this! i know someone who lives in a nice place near to me who had this happen (to an old 206!), they set up a permanent cctv camera (to be fair in plain view above the front bay window) and the culprits were spotted at the early hours of the morning on two occasions, the first time on thier own and the second time showing a fellow hoodlum!

all boiled down to the fact that the daughter was a bit of a trollop and it was a revenge attack by an x.

Anyway, its a st thing to have to go through, dont let it stress you out too much! get it wrapped!
