I've followed Shed of the week for ages, but until now, never felt the need to post. My current shed is also a w124, an E280 and what a car! I'm a sucker for german barges, just look at my garage. They don't get any better these, if bought correctly that is wink

Mine's close to 200k and still going strong.
Your garage is almost as impressive as your de-lurk. thumbup
I don't think it takes the record for "de-lurking" but it certainly up there - I'm sure I book marked a thread which had someone de lurk after 5 plus years!!

Edited to add it

I have to admit that these are great cars and as has been said many times before, the last of the bullet-proof mercs.

With a bit of freshening up these can last for many, many miles more.

On top of their great build quality is the tardis like space !

I have owned my W124/S124 E220 Estate for about a year now, alongside my Mk1 CLK and it always brings a smile to my face when I drive it. If I didn't need to trim down my fleet, this would be a car I would hold on to over and above all my other cars.

Gratuitous photo below biggrin

Top barge thread.

I've a ’94 E220 estate. Poverty spec – cloth, no alloys, and the AC works by opening the sunroof and winding the windows down. I put condition, and straightness, and originality at the top of the criteria – though the extra 2 cylinders would have been used, and helped it achieve full barge status more easily.

It’s just been fully serviced and the tyre folk also reckoned it was a good’un too. It is still on probation – ie I’ve not ventured more than 30miles from home yet.

Tons of character. It’s adequate if in sport setting, but it doesn’t really like it. Lack of oomph is overcome by just not slowing up!

It’s a good retro barge. A Mondeo estate would have been the sensible choice. But, I wanted something with a bit of character. It gets a good airing - average daily commute is 30miles at 50 to 85ish. 150k miles. I’m trying to treat it with some respect so that it will last – no point in whipping something that’ll be 18 next year – ooh err.
