Amazing how he keeps up with Jacxky Ickx's car, considering the size of the camera he has on board smile

As for the pitlane... damn, things have changed... what a crowd and no one seems to wear fireproof clothes...

I believe the Ferrari from Goodwood this year actually was a GTO - but with '64 bodywork. Bell was mesmeric in appalling conditions.

Great to hear from Derek Bell, well done PH. Perhaps we could have more from simular drivers. Reuniting drivers with their machinary would be a nice idea.

Meet Derek most years at a certain bar near Le Mans. I don't know him well but he comes across as a great guy modest but with areal passion for cars and racing.

Great article. Good to hear a racer's view (including sensitive topics like the Dan Wheldon accident) without the sponsorship/marketing/PR bullst that current racers have to bear in mind.

For anyone who isn't too sure what this guy was/is capable of, then I recommend getting hold of In Car 956. The Le Mans and Nurburgring laps are simply stunning.
I got him to sign my copy when I met him at the first Chealsea Auto Legends show.

This feature jogged my memory about this gem from the 1984 IROC!

Met him on the ferry coming back from Le'Mans one year, he just took time out to speak to the group of us. What a gent, no side, something I'll never forget.

Can currently be seen killing Wildcat Bowlers at Top Gear Live. He is one of the nicest guys in motorsport and still a bloody quick driver
I was there - was quite a big off he had, clipped the barrier, rolled the Bowler Nemesis onto its side, slid along then it bounced back onto its wheels. He was fine.
