OK, the more I see it the more it grows.

Lost the rear lights and replace them with some which are more like the second concept (black LED units) and ditch the rear spoiler and it'll look better.

The front is ok, it's just the top half of the rear which is ugly.

If the chassis is as good as they're saying will we not see the same old comments about it needing more power to be fun? Give me one of those with 300->350bhp please for a reasonable price.

A miss from Toyota for me!

They had a chance to bring out an exciting well priced coupe that they could of aimed at the under 30s. A Civic Type R in Coupe clothes... Unfortunately at 28K its just too expensive. Its more than a TT, close to a 370z and not far away from some really good used metal...

Baah, disappointed.

Massive disappointment as I had been looking forward to the finished article for a while and I had ignored the terrible way it had been portrayed so far.
The idea of a simple RWD/200HP/1200KG/low COG coupe appealed a lot but it looks very fussy and over priced, although some people pay £30K for a Golf apparently...

A year old 370z at £20k seems good value now...or maybe the Toyota will depreciate quickly too, but I am not even sure as who will buy one new ??????

That looks so cheap and tacky from the rear shot.

In certain angles, it looks like the 370Z.

Not for me, no way worth the £25k+ they want for it!
was just gonna same the same about the nissan...

Here's hoping that Subaru smash this to pieces with a 25k 300bhp version!

Not a bad looking motor.
Shame the same can't be said about the spelling, punctuation and grammar in the news article.
Come on chaps lets proof read things shall we?

I quite like it.

Does seem a bit too expensive but, if it is properly light and the chassis is good then fair enough.
The chance for a nice handling car, decent performance and hopefully very low running costs does appeal.

Colour does it no favours though.

sounds promising, but too much money! If it was around the 20k mark then I'd want one. Also, 7 seconds to 60 with great handling is fine by me, especially on roads as busy as the ones in this country. Looks could be worse...

Ahhh, so after the long wait they have produced a rear wheel drive Hyundai Coupe with a body kit and at a greater cost then?

(Although I prefer the Hyundai in those pics!)

Is it just me, or do a lot of japanese performance cars always suffer from fashion over style?

At 22k I and a few of my mates were genuinely tempted.

At 28k base its just out of my self imposed price brackets.

As this car is aimed at the youth, I really don't know a lot of under 25's who can afford to spend 30K on a car.

Something of an anti-climax after the months (years?) of hype.
Doesn't look too bad - a bit over-styled perhaps? But the biggest disappointment for me is the price - £5-6K more than originally promised.
Sorry Toyota - I'm out.

Never gonna happen. The Subaru version according to EVO is the same handling and power as the GT 86, so I'd expect the same price as well. Even if it were more powerful, it wouldn't undercut Toyota's price.

As others have said, it's way too expensive for what you are getting. It's meant to be an entry level, RWD, drivers car. Who exactly is gonna be able to afford this? I've been in my current job for 5+ years and graduated 9 years and I know I can't afford this. 22 or 24k, maybe. 28k, no. Just no.

Surely this is just the base model for now, then you'll get the turbo-nutter 300bhp, carbon lightweight version in about 18 months time?

I actually quite like the way it looks, but let's consider the stats...

GT 86 - 197bhp f-4, 166 bhp/tonne, £28,000

370Z - 320bhp V6, 218 bhp/tonne, £29,000

Toyota have priced this way too high.

Given it's powertrain, surely it will only be minutes after launch that there will be 300bhp turbo versions on the roads, however I cannot forgive the styling or the price.

Whilst the price can be attributed to the exchange rate of the Yen (I'm sure its a bargain in its domestic market), and normal inflation of car prices over the last 5 years, the styling is a real miss in my opinion ...... This really could have been lovingly crafted as a junior LF-A for the masses, and covetted by people like me who are desperate for Lotus/Porsche standards of steering and handling, yet want to carry a mountain bike occasionally, and want to cover 20k miles per year on a sensible PPM cost.

I so want to love this car. But it's a real shame it's not more of a looker. Maybe the proportions will look better in person? (I hope....)

As pics make it looks a bit fussy, a bit awkward, a bit bland and a touch ugly. And somehow looking like it's been done before appearance to the overall shape.

£28k if that's a starting price is a bit steep IMO too, well too steep for me to consider, as any options are likely to make this a £30k+ car. I'd rather the extra weight of the 370z for that money as you'd gain in visual drama, power, speed and styling.

Shouldn't this thing be pitched as an alternative to hot hatches or similar ability? Not as a slightly cheaper slower Cayman offering confused

Oh yeah, is that 200hp not actually 200hp but 200PS? So 197hp imperial??
