It's more the 29mpg that interests me though, I wonder what an EP9 Civic Type R would have achieved over the same course? 28-30mpg maybe?? Doesn't really seem like an advancement to me.
How about one of the cars is still legal to sell as it passes EU5? Seems enough of an advancement to me.

I do hope they (Mugen -UK-) sort out the s/c pipework radius problem that led to the s/c pipe being disconnected during a run at this years' FoS. Also, it needs to be lighter for faster responses and they need to sort out the ride as the one I tried was very fidgetty.

I still me my old DC2 - I wonder if some of that magic will be in the wee Mugen?

I love my WR1 but hate the fuel/insurance, and just how the best way to drive it is seriously illegal - hopefully Honda/toyota and Subaru will have something that is fun/frugal and good to look at. I've an order in for the new Subaru, but am wondering if the CRZ might just offer something a little different. That and I've always loved the brand.

I've got a CR-Z GT-Navi with Mugen sports suspension, Mugen air-box & Mugen sports exhaust (back & middle boxes), plus its been set up with "Fast Road" running gear calibration and it goes like stink...just don't hit the sport button when you're in traffic, or you'll be sitting on the lap of the guy in front in seconds!

Sure it's no Civic type R - yes I had one for a day & my fat arse hated it - just no good for Hampshire roads, kept asking where the nearest track was (if you get my drift).

But for UK driving the CR-Z is bang on - the OEM spec wasn't bad either, but now modded, it's like nothing else (probably because no one else would consider spending a couple of thou on a brand new stock model to bring it up a peg or two when they hear it's a hybrid - they'd just spit in disgust.

But for me it ticked all the right boxes & I didn't just buy it 'cos I have a guilty feeling running around in my Landrover Defender 90 300 tdi Station Wagon (which I don't actually). I'm no eco nut, just wanted some performance for most of the time & knew the benefits a partial hybrid had on smaller engined motors.

It ain't the most frugal around, nor the quickest, but boy is it BIG on FUN to drive! And the Mugen exhaust is just so sweet - not too loud, but loud enough to turn some heads, if the shape hasn't done that already.

Just wait till its had its Hondata FlashPro done - budget available soon - then I might just come along on a "Hondas on Track" Day to let it out of the bag.

A Wavetrac LSD would be a good addition in a couple of years' time too, but I've got to start saving for that now.

Tuners are TDI - can't recommend them enough - very understanding, especially as I'm more of a Defender modder than a low slung enthusiast - but you got to start somewhere!

I'll update with a pic soon as I get one uploaded at the weekend.

Keep the criticisms coming - it's good to hear both sides of the divide air their views. Thanks, Rob
