Evo have given it 5 stars. Could this be the rwd equivalent of the DC2 Integra Type-R? We're witnessing the birth of a cult car. Demand will be high and I'm guessing they'll be churning as many of these out as they can to recoup development costs. Not sure how that's going to reflect on residuals. As always with new cars, the first batch will hold their value longest (as demand will still be high) and then things will tail off as more and more enter the used market. Could £15k in a couple of years from a Toyota dealer be possible?

Given the reviews, the TRD car may be 'too focused' for us mere mortals.
Evo have given it 5 stars but it's the same journo as above - in fact a lot of the piece is the same wink

Sounds fantastic...however being 19 it will be a few years yet before I would even be able to think of owning one - Nicely run in by then wink

I've a feeling the "TRD bits" won't go down well with a lot of people however.

As for residuals, time will tell, but I would expect at least usual Toyota rules to apply. Not convinced they'll be available at £15K in two years. Maybe three.
I was just thinking about this. £12.5k @ 3 years/30k miles.

Funny how there were 20 some pages of utter slating and now the review has been rather positive, not even a page/two.

In these crazy times of ridiculous fuel prices and no money I always thought that car manufacturers needed to do something radical with handling/weight etc. as it's just not feasilble to keep the petrolhead masses happy with 200+ bhp.

This sounds like the perfect answer. Just enough power and cracking handling to make up for the fact that we cannot keep pushing the power boundaries.

I think so. I honestly can't see how you could go wrong and not a turbo insight, what double bonus too.

Honda have missed the boat here, this was their forte and bet they're kicking theirselves for not bringing out a sporty rwd coupe like this.
I know their bringing that mugwn crz thing out but that's more of a sporty green hatch to me than this thing which reminds me in many ways of the original integra type r.

Over the last year, I've pondered all vehicles from a CLS63 to a 996 GT3RS and from a Lotus 2-Eleven to an M3 CSL. Only now am I confident that the GT-86 is definitely the right car for me.

Sounds like a decent car. Looks are OK, that wing and the wheels are tragic, but I see a lot of potential.

Every time I hear about these Toybarus, it makes me wish a little harder that Nissan would revive the 200SX, I'd love to see the S15 brought up to date and released as a competitor to this.

Good on you. It sounds like you're buying a performance car for all the right reasons.

I take it this is 2+2, but any idea if the back 2 seats are "doable" for adults or just there for "extra luggage space"

If the back seats aren't that useful then I think I would go for a last off the line S2000 - 240hbp with no turbo and a great ride (I had a 2006 S2000 for 3 years).

Come to think of it - Honda produced an amazing machine over 12 years. Is it really that difficult to design a car like the GT 86 from for example a S2000 as a base and sticking a couple of small seats in the back? - Did Honda miss a trick here?

Strangely, I think this is a car that will be essential to keep standard.
