the next wrx is rumoured/confirmed (can't remember which) to have the 270bhp turbo version of this very engine. I'd be shocked if the obvious config wasn't done at some point
wouldnt surprise me, i think Toyota (/TRD arm) favour the supercharger route and Subaru (true to roots) the turbo for their BRZ.
Should make things interesting between the two models/manufacturers in the future anyway.

If I wasn't 18 months into a 3 year period of 5 ownership I may have been tempted to head down to Howards...

We already know which option will produce better CO2 and alleged mpg.The supercharged version will obviously be more responsive but will it suffer in the green comparisons?

If they offer it as an 'aftermarket' option, does it matter? Surely they can't penalise the manufacturer for aftermarket parts!

Does a TRD supercharger, fitted by the dealer under warranty actually count as aftermarket?

I didn't take after market from that post. Not sure I've ever seen a dealer offer a supercharger or turbo that wasn't a different model? Maybe only the BBR mx5? What dealer is going to strap a supercharger on and remap it for you with a new warranty? Seems unlikely to me

They offer parts yes but the kind of modifications required for a blower I haven't seen..I could be wrong but..the Prodrive performance packs offered where just remaps and exhaust changes.. they keep the standard turbo..they don't offer a turbo upgrade for the RX or any of the N/a models..AFAIK

It's a different car.

No foglights on one of them plus I think the RHD model is a Toyota rather than a Scion

No good in the UK. The usual suspects would complain to the ASA and it would be immediately pulled on the grounds that, well, someone is having fun driving quickly.

For example;

I thought that bks only applied to TV advertising? What about the viral BMW youtube adverts? They were bloody excellent!

Viral ads seem to go under the radar at the moment, I guess because there's no right for a national jurisdiction to censor internationally available media and no way for the miserabilists to actually take down something that's gone viral.

Then they should ban all computer driving games on the basis they encourage dangerous driving and killing people. Unbelievable.

Surely viral is the way to go when advertising a car with any semblance of performance now then!

I pity the poor souls who have nothing else in their empty lives, that are so utterly utterly spiteful that they have to complain about the content of a sodding banner advert on a website. Really, if life is that bad they should just do themselves, and the world a favour and book an appointment at Dignitas.

I have absolutely no doubt that the kind of people who make these rules and the kind of people who report adverts for breaking them would love nothing better. Miserable bds.

trd offer superchargers today in the US - if you get your dealer to fit one it doesn't affect your warranty

http://www.toyotaracing.com/trd/parts_catalog/supe...

you might be right on the PPP not offering turbos (rather just chips/exhausts) but I guess the concept is the same - there'd be nothing to stop someone doing it. UK importers often do very quick 'specials' that aren't available elsewhere - I think the original evo 400 may have been in this category?

Interesting... I don't think I've seen a UK dealer offering superchargers at the dealership..as for the Fq400 it's a different model..specials or not it's a different model car, different VIN code, model number
